HawkXP71 112 Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 I dont know if this is a supported usage model. I have a server, but Im going away on a trip with a long flight. I would like to download to my tablet (preferably, but a laptop would be ok) movies and/or episodes to watch on the flight. However, i want to play the shows in the emby app, and Ideally when I return (or am able to go online) it would sync what I watched. I dont want to setup a server on the laptop/tablet. Any thoughts on the best way to achieve this? Syncing is optional. the main thing is I want the emby experience watching local media from a remote server
Luke 42079 Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 Hi, yes this is what the download feature does in our Emby iOS and Android apps.

HawkXP71 112 Posted July 14, 2024 Author Posted July 14, 2024 (edited) Can you point me to the docs where it describes the download flow. I see the movies I am experimenting with, in my download area (using an admin account). How do I get them to the actual tablet? Ignore, they started downloading on their own.... HawkXP71 112 Posted July 14, 2024 Author Posted July 14, 2024 So next question.. Is it possible to just "copy" the files to the location on the tablet/phone? and have it picked up?

Something seems broken. I turn off my wifi, after a "reboot of the tablet". I cant get into emby, it says select server and then "unable to reach" I turn back on wifi, enter into the server, then It lets me in and I can watch the downloaded media. Is this expected behavior? If so, Ill probably file an enhancement request. The "select server screen" should recognize which servres have downloaded data.

If you are trying to do remote access, then you can click on the server and the app supports connecting remotely, assuming your network is setup for that. If you are trying to do offline access, then the select server screen has a separate Downloads section to click to access those.

However, the app wont let me connect to the server (which does have downloaded media) unless I am online.
Lessaj 467 Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 You don't need to connect to a server. The downloads are on the select server screen.
