warrentc3 47 Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 Roku clients trigger firewall blocks and fail to play video. This only occurs for external Roku clients. Any other OS doesn’t introduce this artifact. Roku’s on internal network / site to site tunnel do not trigger this. To clarify my setup for external clients, inbound traffic goes through a dmz SWAG.
speechles 2055 Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 (edited) You may want to add an exemption so Emby can use http delete. There are things that must be handled this way to remove the remnants off the server. Like cancelling recording timers, deleting video encodes no longer active after transcoding, removing favorite/watched statuses, etc. Since you say only external Roku cause this it must be because those external Roku are transcoding? Or that person must be changing favorited or watched statuses? If you are blocking the http delete there will remain lots of old m3u8 and TS files in the "/transcoding" directory. You may want to rethink this approach. That problem with http delete would happen on any client since your software believes this is an intruder. You want to allow it. warrentc3 47 Posted July 14, 2024 Author Posted July 14, 2024 (edited) thanks, i will get some more logging to share on this. the curious thing is it literally only happens on roku clients. there are plenty of other clients that do transcode without issue. i do with my own iphone frequently. samsung, lg, android, fire, ios, tvos all playback with no issue. I definitely there’s something amiss between roku client and transcoding. Once I put a temporary whitelist in for all http traffic from dmz/reverse proxy to emby server. it was able to start playing, but only the audio played and not video…. just got a black screen. It was very strange. Edited July 14, 2024 by warrentc3 1
