Noel Grassy 42 Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 Hello. i have a lifetime subscription and after updating to the latest windows i can no longer access emby remotely. It worked fine before and i cant figure it out at all. I have it allowed through my router and now also my firewall: I didn't need to do that before. Am i missing something? Thank you.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 What platform? Assuming router and firewall are configured correctly does a site like canyouseeme.org show Emby ports open? Test Your External Address
pwhodges 2012 Posted July 12, 2024 Posted July 12, 2024 (edited) A possible cause of issues when updating Windows is the networking mode being changed to "public". If that has happened change it back to "private" and you should be fine again. Paul Edited July 13, 2024 by pwhodges 1

I'll go through port forwarding setup again. I have been running emby for a long time and never had this problem before. I'm running the beta server on windows 11. Noel Grassy 42 Posted July 14, 2024 Author Posted July 14, 2024 I tried everything and still nothing.
tedfroop21 86 Posted July 14, 2024 Posted July 14, 2024 Is your Windows box connected wired or wireless? If its wireless did you turn "random hardware address" setting off?

From the facts provided - you previously must have used upnp to get remote access. So if you are now using port forwarding rules in your router, then it's possible they are not correct or the upnp is messing with the manual port forward. Maybe turn off upnp and restart the router. To help further, we'll need to see an emby log and ideally also a pic of your router port forward settings (remove the WAN IP, we don't need/want to see that). Edited July 14, 2024 by rbjtech 1

Okay. i'll turn off upnp if it's enabled and figure out how to send a log. also i'll get a pic of my router port forwarding setup.

Luke 42078 Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 Can you show screenshots of how you configured port forwarding in your router? Have you researched to check if your ISP might be using a CGNat?

justinrh 260 Posted July 15, 2024 Posted July 15, 2024 (edited) 103 is the address assigned to the server? (you probably checked that, but have to ask) Any other services on that box accessible from the outside? What are the firewall details? What is the response when you browse to http://youripordomain:8096? Edited July 15, 2024 by justinrh
rbjtech 5284 Posted July 16, 2024 Posted July 16, 2024 Forwarded Ports look reasonable. From another device on the same lan (192.168.0.x) - can you connect to http://192.168.0.103:8096 ? If yes, then your firewall on the emby server is ok. Worth checking you have entered the correct subnet mask (likely 255.255.255.0) and router gateway (192.168.0.x) on any static IP used for the emby server.

Luke 42078 Posted July 17, 2024 Posted July 17, 2024 Does your ISP allow use of these ports externally?

If i reinstall emby it will take a week or so to complete. I have a lot of media and my wife will not be happy. It might not even work so i would like to try everything before that if i can.
Luke 42078 Posted July 17, 2024 Posted July 17, 2024 Quote They always have. Sure, but things change over time.
Luke 42078 Posted July 17, 2024 Posted July 17, 2024 Quote If i reinstall emby it will take a week or so to complete. If the issue is related to traffic getting through your router and to your server machine, then reinstalling the software isn't going to help you. 1
