alphapicker for photos in web interface

I have for well over a year (probably closer to two or three years) asked for an alphapicker in the web interface for photos. I have a library of nearly 1000 photos in one library and the re is no alphapicke so going to a given photo get very tedious.
I have a properly functioning alphapicker on all my clients but on my computer in the web interface there is nothing.

I am running Windows 10
My server is Version 4.8.8.0
I am using Chrome Version 126.0.6478.127 (Official Build) (64-bit)

The alphapicker works fine for every library except photos.

I do not understand at all why, since I reported this a LONG time ago, this seemingly simple problem has not been fixed.

I also do not see anything on my test beta server. Version 4.9.0.26 beta but I rarely use the beta server.

I have my image size set to "extra small" and the only field that is turned on is title.
I have tried many many different image size settings and no alphapicker ever shows up.
It acts like there is a setting somewhere that says "Alphapicker off" and it got turned on somehow but I never would have turned it on and i cannot find such a setting.
I also had this for a LONG time and I did a full remove and reinstall of Emby on both computers and I have seen absolutly no alphapicker for my photo library.

Why is this going unfixed for so long and why is it that I see the problem on two different computers one running the release and the other running the beta.
Is there no interest in fixing this bug?
Does anyone at Emby care?
If you are not going to fix this bug just say so but what action I do not see on this is somewhat disappointing to say the least.
I just want to use Emby but the lack of an alphapicker for photos is just wrong and makes using Emby less pleasant.

PLEASE FIX THIS BUG!!!

Note: I just tested under Firefox and Opera and there is no alphapicker for photos in either.

This has fallen, on my system, to the second page so i am bumping it in hopes that there will actually be some response from Emby. If not i will let it go and just assume that Emby is totally unable to fix this basic functionality. <sigh>

I thought better of you, Emby.

HI, the main issue is that this is not something you typically see in photo apps, so we need to look at how to give this to you, without looking like clutter for those who aren't expecting to see it.

Sort of a catch 22 of are you renaming images or leaving with how the camera named them so everything is an img_number.  Nothing like 1000 plus images with just a number.

The interface had a perfectly functioning alphapicker until an "upgrade" happened that removed it. The possible fact that it is not seen in other apps is just a mirror image of a saying said to kids, "If everyone else was jumping off a cliff would you just follow blindly."

I would like to know the why behind removing a valuable feature in the interface on the computer and not removing it from all clients I also would like to express that i feel this is a bug but a bug that was intentionally introduced into the interface.
I do not buy that a list of letters along the right edge of the screen either puts too much on the screen or that it clutters up the screen. If there are users that do not like having an alphapicker is totally unwanted then give them an option.

BTW: If people do not want the alphapicker then why is there one on all my clients? If alpha pickers are not wanted in photo apps then why on earth was there one for so long and still one on all clients?

I name every photo that I get. I do not tag them or anything like that but names like "Carol-05/03/2003" and i use directories to separate types of files. I even have a second photo library just for testing However the library I am talking about is just one folder with all the photos, properly named per my naming conventions.

I just want an alphapicker, like I had before, it can even be able to be turned on and off.

That is I would like to at least have an alphapicker and I believe it is more popular than people are saying.
Since it existed before I believe it would be simple to put it back in and the fact that it still exists on the clients and in every other library type says that the code is pretty standard. just put the alphabet on the right side of the screen and then when a letter is clicked proceed to the first picture that starts with that letter EXACTLY as it happens in all clients and all library types.

But this sounds like Emby has dug their heels in and do not want to even try to put it back in spite of its value for many, but obviously not everybody.
It is a small section of code and it did work in the past but I guess removing it was fun for the Emby coders and they do not want all their hard work to be lost by putting that bit of code back in.

I just do not see the value intentionally making the web interface dumber and harder to use.

However if this is how it's going to be then so be it and I will just change part of my list of pros and cons for Emby to make the web photo interface for the photo section move from the plus side to the minus side.
Emby just got a little bit worse but it is still the best media manager for Movies and TV shows.

I am disappointed that a feature I liked and used is gone for good and I do not buy the clutter argument or the excuse that "no other audio app has it" but the program is Emby's so they can do as the want but i am beginning to understand why some people want to disable updates. It is irritating that features useful to me get removed while features with no value to me get added. I know I am not important enough to warrant special treatment but I cannot believe my wants/needs are not mostly the same as others.

Sorry this got long. My disappointment plus my pain meds has made me ramble more than a bit. :(

i don't really have a strong opinion on the alphapicker but i am reaonably into photography and photo editing. I can agree that no program i have used uses an alphapicker.

Through my editing workflow i name (title) and tag every photo taken. the name of the file is meaningless and i actually name them all "Event01" and sequentially, this is useful for keeping photos in chronological order where required.

The features that the program i use (Lightroom) has to help locate photos are folder structure, tagging (including geolocation) and searchable titles in metadata. An alphapicker would be of lower value because often the word i am searching for in the title is not the first word.

Maybe have it if sorting by 'File Name' (also has no alpha picker) - leaving 'Title' with no alpha picker to avoid potential confusion.   In my case - I would just have a letter 'I' as all 34K photo's I have taken over many years are named IMG_xxxxxx for example.

One additional question and then I will drop this:
Am I correct that there is no plans to add back the alphapicker to photo libraries?

At this point I no longer care about the "why" of this. I just want Emby to give a simple official "yes" or "no" to the question and then I will quietly drop this subject.
