MB Rich 4 Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 I've got a Philips TV running AndroidTV and use the Emby App If I watch 50fps content through Emby it judders really horrifically which I can only assume means the display is refreshing at 60fps. I can't see any settings to make Emby force a refresh rate change (which I can do on our other Emby device - Shield TV Pro), and I can't see any obvious settings on the TV itself. Am I right to assume that the TV is likely just forcing 60fps refresh for built-in apps and there's nothing I can do? Or are there some hidden Android settings I can fiddle with to get it to show the 50fps content natively?
ebr 16169 Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Hi. Be sure and investigate the settings on the TV to see if it has anything that may help. If the app isn't offering the option then it means that the TV is not exposing it to the app. Also, can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.
MB Rich 4 Posted July 11, 2024 Author Posted July 11, 2024 The TV doesn't have anything relating to refresh rate but the smooth motion on max does help a little (it's motor racing so it benefits from the high fps). I've tried the standard app and that has exactly the same judder. As you say, it looks like the TV just isn't presenting the options. Shame as I really like having a setup with just a TV and no other boxes or remotes. Might have to look at another Shield at some point...
