Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted July 9, 2024 Posted July 9, 2024 When I created most of my collections I did not even think about sort order. However i have found that I absolutely do NOT like having the release date as the sort order as many of my shows were not released in the order it is best to watch them in. In my regular browsing I have manually set the sort field to a sort where all of the shows that are in a give collection are grouped together and in my preferable sort order. Ex. My Star Wars collection is sorted started with fields like "Star Wars 001" "Star Wars 002" and so on. This works great in my library view but when looking at my Star Wars collection it was sorted by " A New Hope" which is actually 4th in the actual best watch order. I manually changed the default order to "sort order" and that works but the default is "Date released" and many of my collections (all of which are manually created) are sorted incorrectly for me because they are in "Date released" order' I have realized that i want to have all my current collections sorted in "Sort order" and not "date released." but as I have around 300 collections changing the sort order field in each one is somewhat tedious. So there are two things I would like to know: 1. Is there a way to change the sort choice for all collections to "sort order?" 2. Is there a way to change the collection sort order for all future collections to "sort order?" I guess I am being a bit lazy but that come with age and basic innate laziness.
Gilgamesh_48 1240 Posted July 10, 2024 Author Posted July 10, 2024 This is rapidly moving down the list without any response so i decided to bump it once. If it does not get any responses after this one bump i will deduce that there is no interest or no answer at all. That is fine but i will be a bit surprised. Thanks.
Luke 42078 Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 Hi, there is currently no way to do this in Bulk. Maybe the Bulky plugin has something but I'm not sure. Bulk edit features are planned for future updates though.

Can you answer the second question about changing the default sort order for the creation of collections? I really do not much like having any defaults that cannot be changed. 1
Luke 42078 Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 The default sort order for collections is Collection Order. The default Collection order for collections is release date. Which exactly do you want to change?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 (edited) If you have already set all your collections display order to SortName then moving/copying /metadata/collections will maintain that info as it is written in collection.nfo. Assuming that is what you are referring to. Spoiler <collection> <plot>An epic space-opera theatrical film series, which depicts the adventures of various characters "a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…."</plot> <outline>An epic space-opera theatrical film series, which depicts the adventures of various characters "a long time ago in a galaxy far, far away…."</outline> <lockdata>false</lockdata> <dateadded>2024-02-15 13:36:28</dateadded>
Star Wars Collection
<sorttitle>Star Wars Collection</sorttitle> <mpaa>PG</mpaa> <tmdbid>10</tmdbid> <genre>Adventure</genre> <genre>Action</genre> <genre>Science Fiction</genre> <uniqueid type="tmdb">10</uniqueid> <displayorder>SortName</displayorder> </collection> But no default will always be Release date per 99% of all collections. Oh well. It was worth asking. I guess that when I create collections I need to strive to remember to set the sort order i want. It is actually just one more thing that i "should" remember but will ultimately forget when it matters. 1
