Music videos library inconsistent Folder view

I have renamed all files from 2 artists (mp4, nfo, thumb.jpg) without " - ",

Before: Videos/Adele/Adele - Skyfall.mp4

After: Videos/Adele/Adele-Skyfall.mp4

After that, here's what I did:

1 split version apart

2 scan library

3 move the folder with test files out of Emby monitored folder

4 scan library

5 Moved folder back to origin

6 scan library

   Videos are again versioned 😒

Will have to do some testing but have never had an item multi-version that did not conform to required naming scheme.

May need to see specific examples.

No it is obsolete.

@Lukedid something change here or break as folder and file beginning with same name are grouped with dash and space dash or dashdash variables.  No dash will break the group.

should not be grouped as it is no the rule.

E:\Media\Music videos\Eminem

\Eminem-My Name Is.mkv

\Eminem-The Real Slim Shady.mkv

So it appear options are change folder name to say Eminem MV or change file name removing dash or to a different character ~.

Only tested in 4.9.0.26

Yes changes have been made to make the rules more lenient and less strict.

I think what needs to happen is adding an option in library setup to control whether this is enabled or not.

Folder name "Eminem MV" in lieu of "Adele" ?

Not on my watch !

😂

I did redo the rename bit with this twist:

1 Before: Videos/Adele/Adele - Skyfall.mp4

2 After: Videos/Adele/Adele-Skyfall.mp4

3 Hail Mary: Videos/Adele/Adele, Skyfall.mp4

coma/space does not trigger versioning, but I'd rather not do this at large.

Do you have suggestions for more elegant alternative(s).

Sort of the catch 22 but do you really need artist in name if they are in artist folder?

Reverse the order so title - artist?

I have some good news to share.

Renaming the files to replace the nuclear "-" with "." is preventing file versioning.

But the kicker is it also fixes the folders that Emby was flattening.

Its still happening, but now only with "one hit wonders" (when there is only one media file per artist folder).

That should be easy enough for you to reproduce (and eventually fix...)

One other thing: I was also very disappointed by the total lack of metadata provided by default providers.

The AudioDB, IMVDB, FanArt were at best doing zilch for me. The rare occasion they would find something was always wrong

I just added MusicBrainz to my plugin catalogue.

For some reason I still don't get any artists bio's, but now the nice pics are displayed.

Sounds like you added it after the library was scanned?
