sterremos 13 Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 good morning, can someone help me with the next issue, I have a number of artists that appear twice in the overview, I have renamed everything to the artist in question with MP3tag. For example, Bob Seger in the appendix, which is included 3 times. No matter what I try, I cannot get this to appear in the overview only once. Thanks in advance. Ron
user24 316 Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 (edited) Hi there, Do you have MusicBrainz IDs on your artists? Either in Mp3tag or Emby? Or Discogs IDs? Bob Seger may have IDs as (e.g.) either Bob Seger or Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band or other listing with different ID.. Here is some of what MusicBrainz website shows: Name: Bob Seger MBID: 4382b934-64c3-47ac-98db-65f26d845c48 Name: Bob Seger & the Silver Bullet Band MBID: aeea3060-05ba-4dda-8c92-3dc899e24ce8 This could also be the reason why you have different artist images. (Note: I have both of the above IDs in my library with the same two respective Bob Seger images shown in your example. I combine them at the Album Artist level, but separate them at the Artist level. Of course, you can do whatever suits you!) Emby imports the MusicBrainz and Discogs info if you have these options enabled for your library. I've found that MusicBrainz data is mostly good, but Discogs is much more problematic. If different IDs is not the reason, perhaps post an image of all your Mp3tags and Emby metadata for the three artist versions. Remember to include hidden/extended tags as these could be causing problems. Cheers! Edited July 8, 2024 by user24
sterremos 13 Posted July 8, 2024 Author Posted July 8, 2024 thank you for this information, I didn't know this was done this way, I actually see that it is like this at MP3Tag. In Bob Seger's example I only want to have 1 folder, including the bullet band. So I have to investigate how I can change the ID in a program?
user24 316 Posted July 8, 2024 Posted July 8, 2024 You could just try manually deleting all the IDs in Mp3tag and/or Emby, wherever they exist. Then, if all your Album Artist and Artist tags are just "Bob Seger" then you should get only that one entry. 1
