yaaaaygrrrrr 0 Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 (edited) I have had a Emby server running on Ubuntu 22.04 LTS for a few years. No recent OS updates were installed before the issue and Emby was up to date (4.8.8.0). Last night I got a notification that OpenSubtitles 1.0.56 was updated and to restart Emby, which I did not do at that time. In my logs, I see that emby issued an automatic restart of the service when it found itself idle during the night. After waking up this morning, when going to Emby it brings me to the new setup wizard instead of my established configuration. When I SSH into my server, emby is started, all of the drive mappings seem to be successful and I don't see any errors being thrown up by emby. I have tried restarting the server and restarting the service. What is my next step as far as troubleshooting this or recovering from this? I have attached my most recent embyserver logs (today and yesterday). Appreciate any assistance. embyserver.txt embyserver-63855824593.txt embyserver-63855855299.txt embyserver-63855855750.txt Edited July 6, 2024 by yaaaaygrrrrr
yaaaaygrrrrr 0 Posted July 6, 2024 Author Posted July 6, 2024 I did some additional testing. I attempted to reinstall 4.8.8.0 on top of my previous install, which did not appear to change anything. It appears Emby is still working in some cases. I can play media from my AppleTV through the app, or on my iPhone through the app. Using the Linux flathub app, I can pull up the interface but when I go to launch media it never plays, tested on a linux desktop (Fedora) and on my Steam Deck. Trying to use the web interface either from a Linux desktop running Firefox or Edge, or a MacOS laptop running Firefox or Safari, I get the new setup wizard.
Luke 42077 Posted July 6, 2024 Posted July 6, 2024 Hi, the most common causes of this are either somehow the server xml config file became corrupted, or it was saved with mal-formed xml after hand-editing it, or some portions of the server data folder were accidentally deleted or accidentally restored from an old backup. If you step through the wizard and then review all server settings, does that get you back up and running? Are your users still there?
