Quicksync Transcoding Gone Missing

HI, are your drivers up to date? Have you tried rebooting your machine?

Yep, rebooted several times, 4 driver versions tried, DDU run to clear out any old items. When restarting Emby, going to the transcode section takes far longer to display than normal saying the transcoding services are still loading.

Is there a monitor connected to the graphics card?

Have just tested connecting a monitor to the USB-C ports that provide video out for the iGPU, and now QuickSync for both the ARC A770m and iGPU have re-appeared after a restart of Emby. Obviously some weird situation with needing the iGPU output to be active for both either GPU's QuickSync capabilities to be detected by ffmpeg. Have ordered a USB-C EDID emulator but hopefully eventually this isn't needed.

Odd that it just started happening as QuickSync has appeared in previous versions, and I've not ever used the USB-C outputs for monitor connection prior to now. At least I have a workaround for now.

It's an older bug where quicksync doesn't work if there is no display connected. You could potentially just go into the bios and enable the onboard iGPU and the ARC card instead of leaving it on AUTO. Apparently on some systems if AUTO is selected it will disable the GPUS if no display is detected. This "bug" is about a decade old, and as we know, old bugs tend to pop up in the most unexpected places for the dumbest of reasons.

Thanks. You got me thinking about why it might be doing this as it's already set to the iGPU in the BIOS. One setting that was changed was the power mode which potentially set the power option for "Turn the display off after" to 5 minutes. I've since set it to never and will see if this changes the behaviour.
