I can’t recover Emby, I’ve had an update code sent but where do I insert it?

I've read as much, hence I'm trying to figure out what kind of code would that be as no Emby apps (either server or client) require any "update" code. 

Are you connecting to your own server or someone shared their server with you? How did you obtain that "update" code? Who sent it to you? Were there any instructions given?
