Over the air TV advice

Quick background: For years I ran EMBY as my main entertainment for my house with 2 HD Homerun cable card tuners connected (6 streams). It was great but I moved a few years ago and we did not get cable so we started using youTubeTV and EMBY has not been used as much. Now we cancelled YouTubeTV because we are using just streaming services. I would like to get my EMBY server set up again with the over the air tv tuners. It appears we are between two different markets (Houston is a little over an hour away), there are several channels showing as available but most don’t show having strong strength for my address.

Question 1: What tuner (or tuners) should I get? I was thinking about getting one or two of the HDHomeRun FLEXs. If I get 2 it would be to get a second antenna setup to maximize the two different areas the channels come from. The stronger channels come from the College Station area but more variety come from the Houston area and they are opposite directions from my house. I am unsure how ATA TV signals work. If I should end up getting 2 I would start with 1 and add the second later on.  I also assume these work over the network like my cable card HD Homerun did.

Question 2: What antenna should I get? It does not appear that tuners come with an antenna, and even if they did I would think that getting a somewhat upgraded antenna would really help because of my location. Running one in the attic or attaching one the outside of the house should not be much of an issue for me.

Question 3: What else do I need to think about?

Thanks in advance,

Robert

@roberthleeii Have you seen "Antenna Man" on youtube? He has done quite a few videos that cover your questions in detail. It might be worth looking up his channel.

Also beware of the ATSC 3.0 NextGen DRM Encryption that is looming over most of us... The last I have seen is our HDHomeRun boxes cannot receive those encrypted stations (YET) but its still possible in a future firmware update if the controlling party for ATSC 3.0 "grants approval" for HDHomeRun devices (its a proprietary protocol).
