mouse pointer doesn't hide

Recently got a Macbook, have only used Windows laptops in the past. One of the first things I did was install the Emby client app. Downloaded some content before a flight, and noticed on the flight that, while everything worked really really well, the mouse pointer doesn't hide after a few seconds along with the controls, like it does on Windows.

I'm still pretty new to the MacOS world so not sure if there's something I'm supposed to do somewhere?  I ended up moving the pointer to the far right of the screen but that still leaves a small line over the video which is triggering my OCD

@Lukehas there been any progress on this? The only way to get rid of the mouse pointer is to pause and resume the content with physical button press (spacebar/play)
