Nauclerus 1 Posted June 29, 2024 Posted June 29, 2024 (edited) As the title states, transcoding a 4k movie in HEVC to 1080p in H264 introduces a strange green hue on any movie I've tried. Following are a few of the scenes in Oppenheimer where it's most apparent in the opening scenes: Original Direct Play: Transcoded 1080p using NVENC with Software Tone mapping: Transcoded to H264 using NVENC with NVENC Tone Mapping: I'd like to ask if the minimal difference between the two uppermost images are what's responsible for the huge disparity of the last image. As you can see a very faint green hue is introduced when one goes from Direct Play to Trancode + Software Tone mapping. This color change then gets blown out by the Hardware Tone Mapping in the last image. Is this a known issue? Anyone else had this happen to them? Edited June 29, 2024 by Nauclerus Corrections
