user84 46 Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 Every time I update server versions, I am prompted with a message to restart the server to apply updates. I do this using the web "Restart Emby Server" option and it never works. I just get the same error over and over. It isn't until I actually restart my hardware that the updates apply. IMHO - Changing the message that appears to something like "Restart Emby server hardware to apply updates" would be a more helpful message. Or anything else you might come up with that makes it clear that we shouldn't be using the typical "restart" function for the software.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 What platform as a host restart should not be required. But I think there are some NAS systems that sort of require this at least from a major update standpoint per other topics. But in generally it should not be a requirement.
Sammy 790 Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 You might be able to avoid a full reboot by going to the Task Manager, right click on Emby Server and select end task, then go to the start menu and restart Emby from there. Another option is to shut down Emby server in the by going to the "Show Hidden Icons" up arrow in the lower right next to the clock and then right click the Emby icon and select Exit. After this go to the start menu and restart the Emby Server from there. Not ideal but sometimes on some updates this happens and if the above two methods are unsuccessful a full reboot is needed.
