Hello guys,

My emby is failed on subtitle loading recently.

I tried to debug and find out that the request to opensubtitles is timeout everytime You can check the screenshot below.

Then I test by calling api directly. and the result is
https://vip-api.opensubtitles.com/api/v1/subtitles?imdb_id=13287846&languages=en&moviehash=54b15d03f3d89e82&query=Napoleon.2023.PROPER.1080p.WEBRip.x265-KONTRAST.mp4

{
    "errors": [
        "Invalid domain"
    ],
    "status": 401
}

but when I change from vip-api to api, it's working normal.

I've already been the VIP member of opensubtitle long time ago.

Anyone know what happen?

"nslookup vip-api.opensubtitles.com"

returns a valid ip for me - are you sure your DNS lookup is good ?

edit

"nslookup api.opensubtitles.com"

returns the same IP's ..

From you limited logs, I think you have network issues ( Using VPN / DNS / Firewall )

But cant tell.

Devs would need the complete logs.

it's also point to same ip. I don't know why I call api endpoint and got result but vip-api endpoint got invalid domain.

Dev's will still need server logs.

But your issue is almost all external communications timing out.

Embyadmin

Podnapisi

Open Subtitle (api and vip-api)

Moviedb

OMDB

So maybe VPN/Firewall/Security software?

Something is blocking you outgoing requests.

You need to make sure you are testing from the same account, same interface, same IP, same container etc that the emby server uses.  It's pointless testing from anywhere else.

If emby can't get to the URL's, then neither should any terminal or command prompt.

Emby simply uses the OS network stack.

try a 'curl' to the https addresses above - do you get anything back ?   if not, then you need to fix your external connections - this is not an emby issue ... 🤔

Perhaps try using the custom DNS and see if that helps.

@Lukesorry Luke, I’m recently busy still not have time to deeply check it. But I tried with different DNS. It’s still not working.

I will keep updating if I got something new.

@LukeHi Luke, I just found the root cause. It just because IPv6 is turn on in synology nas network setting.

@jaycedkmentioned about this problem before but I just turn IPv6 off only in router setting, I didn't turn it off in my nas network setting.
