Bunit 1 Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 I'm still new to EMBY and have been searching for a possible solution to a problem I am having finding metadata for a file of mine here in the forums. This forum seems to be relevant to my troubles so I will post it here. If I am wrong to post it here, forgive my ignorance and help me find a place where I can find an answer to my questions. I am trying to find metadata for a movie file, but I am having no success using either IDENTIFY or EDIT METADATA. The movie is "The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling" (2028). The movie can be found at these web page links; https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7860890/?ref_=nv_sr_srsg_4_tt_8_nm_0_q_the%20zen%20 https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/77397-the-zen-diaries-of-garry-shandling https://thetvdb.com/series/345128-show Using IDENTIFY in EMBY I get the following results; imdb id: tt7860890 search results = No items matching your search criteria were found. moviedb id: 77397 search results = "one step is enough" 2011 tvdb id: 345128 search results = No items matching your search criteria were found. Then if I switch to using EDIT METADATA I get the following results; imdb = https://www.imdb.com/title/tt7860890/ = correct movie is found But no medadata is downloaded. tmdb = https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/77397 = "One Step is Enough" 2011 ( Just wrong) tvdb = https://thetvdb.com/dereferrer/movie/345128 = 404 the page you're looking for isn't here I just don't know what I am doing wrong and need some help. Thanks in advance

pwhodges 2012 Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 Does your file structure including this movie follow the Emby file naming guidelines? Is the library a movies type library (if mixed type, then the file structure is even more important)? https://emby.media/support/articles/Movie-Naming.html Paul

Thanks in advance Hi, sounds like you have a movie file in a tv show library? That's why the server is trying to lookup metadata from tv shows.

Thanks in advance Yes from a content type standpoint you cannot mix as provider queries are by type and as you just showed with that example that both movie and tv can have the same provider id for different media. Where IMDBid can be queried on OMDB as there are no duplicates or content types.
Bunit 1 Posted June 26, 2024 Author Posted June 26, 2024 Hi Paul, Thanks for the link. Yes, I have Movies/The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling (2018)/The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling (2018). All the other files use the same naming structure and they all received their proper metadata. It is this one video that simply won't update metadata. ed (bunit)
darkassassin07 652 Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 Have you tried to identify by just entering the name into the identify menu?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 26, 2024 Posted June 26, 2024 Yes because provides say it is TV no a Movie. I have a few Mini Series this way as I only have the one file format not multiple episodes. As your example is a mini series with 2 episodes part 1 and part 2.

darkassassin07 652 Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 First test I did I just re-identified a random movie: It replaced all the metadata it could; but did not remove old metadata first. So anything that wasn't filled in by the new metadata stayed as the previous identifications metadata. I then manually removed all the meta from that movie. Then identified it again and everything filled jn correctly. (for 'The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling') It only grabbed an imdb id though. No tvdb or moviedb. (I have theTVDB disabled as a meta fetcher for my movie library)
Bunit 1 Posted June 27, 2024 Author Posted June 27, 2024 Hi Happy, Yes, at the moment I only have part one installed into the "movie" folder. The only things listed in the metadata are the title and year. My attempts to get metadata are listed in my earlier post. Yesterday I tried using a program called Media Center Master which is supposed to gather metadata, artwork etc. It too failed to gather metadata or artwork for this particular video. Ed (Bunit)
Bunit 1 Posted June 27, 2024 Author Posted June 27, 2024 Hi Dark, I've tried repeatedly for the last two days with no luck. My blank metadata, except for title and year released are the only two slots filled with any data. And I hit save and nothing happens.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 (edited) Yes as you will only get what OMDB provides as TMDB and TVDB will not return result as it is not a Movie. So you have to manually add all metadata or move it to a TV content type library and rename as a episode. Yes MCM will fail as the exact same condition apply. But almost all my media is done by MCM. Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 Note IMDB is never used as a provider only the id is used to query Emby provider site as IMDB data is gold to them and want lots of money to use their api.
Bunit 1 Posted June 27, 2024 Author Posted June 27, 2024 using IDENTIFY or using EDIT METADATA and inserting tt7860890 in the IMDB slot brings up nothing. I can enter id's of other movies and it will work, it just doesn't work for this one.

Bunit 1 Posted June 27, 2024 Author Posted June 27, 2024 Happy, So you say I should set up a "TV" library and query tvdb for data instead?
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 Movie libraries cannot query TV content it will only query the movie side of the api. The server log will show the same as queries will only be to /movie/ as you have already shown in the links above. https://thetvdb.com/series/345128-show https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/77397-the-zen-diaries-of-garry-shandling
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 Just now, Bunit said: Happy, So you say I should set up a "TV" library and query tvdb for data instead? If you do not want to provide most of the metadata and images yourself, yes. Otherwise you have to fill in the blank manually.
Bunit 1 Posted June 27, 2024 Author Posted June 27, 2024 The only providers I see available when I look in IDENTIFY are IMDB, MOVIEDB and TVDB, I don't know about any others nor to I know how to tell EMBY to use others.
Bunit 1 Posted June 27, 2024 Author Posted June 27, 2024 copy that. Like I said earlier I'm new to EMBY and I'm also new to gathering metadata. I'll try setting up a TV library and try again. Thanks for your insight in how data is gathered. Ed (Bunit)

Well it is OMDB but yes those are the three providers Emby has. You can get only this info as a Movie from OMDB as you cannot get anything from TMDB or TVDB as they do not list it as a Movie. Quote {"Title":"The Zen Diaries of Garry Shandling","Year":"2018","Rated":"TV-MA","Released":"26 Mar 2018","Runtime":"259 min","Genre":"Documentary, Biography, Comedy","Director":"Judd Apatow","Writer":"N/A","Actors":"Garry Shandling, Judd Apatow, Kevin Nealon","Plot":"Judd Apatow presents an emotional two-part in-depth look at the life, career and complex internal struggles of his loving mentor, the influential stand-up comedian and actor Garry Shandling, based on Shandling's personal diaries.","Language":"English","Country":"United States","Awards":"Won 1 Primetime Emmy. 2 wins & 4 nominations total","Poster":"https://m.media-amazon.com/images/M/MV5BYWQxNTNlOGUtY2Q2ZS00NTgxLTk0OTctZmZhNjNmM2MyOGExXkEyXkFqcGdeQXVyMTMxODk2OTU@._V1_SX300.jpg","Ratings":[{"Source":"Internet Movie Database","Value":"8.4/10"}],"Metascore":"N/A","imdbRating":"8.4","imdbVotes":"2,161","imdbID":"tt7860890","Type":"movie","DVD":"N/A","BoxOffice":"N/A","Production":"N/A","Website":"N/A","Response":"True"} And Images are hit and miss from OMDB. But looks like the confusion of using IMDBid for lookup. Edited June 27, 2024 by Happy2Play
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 27, 2024 Posted June 27, 2024 @Lukecan a note be added in Identify under IMDB that it does not use IMDB for lookups. 1
Bunit 1 Posted June 27, 2024 Author Posted June 27, 2024 Hello Hap, I set up a new folder in the library for TV shows and moved my video file to it, and just like you said.... everything ie metadata... updated just fine. Thank you for your time and patience with me. Ed (bunit) 1
