Frozen Video and Transcoding Failure in H265 Videos

Most of the H265 Videos are unable to play on my XIAOMI TV. I first thought a emby premier could solve it by enabling hardware transcoding, but after activation the transcoding still won't work for those videos on the TV. Everytime I choose another rate, it prompts up "Too many errors. Give up". I also tried to install an emby android for arm64 on my TV, but it was unsuccessful.

The playback of those videos are normal on other android mobile phones and web UI, although some videos fallback to CPU transcoding for some reasons.

I have sent the logs from the TV client. Can you check them?

HI, what happens when you try to direct play these without transcoding?

Then add the following information to your report in the forum:

  • Exactly what you were doing and what happened.  Include the name of whatever you played if it is a playback problem
  • The time you sent the log (in Eastern Time please - UTC -5)
  • The name of the Emby user on the local server that was logged in at the time

It seems that all of the videos with HDR tag are unable to play.

Is your device HDR capable?

Okay, here is the answer to my question:

06-27 14:05:12.147 5688 5688 I System.out: *** OS does not support HDR

You will need to use the other Android app and, I believe, it will properly transcode these items to play them.  You should be able to find it in the store as "Emby for Android".

It indeed supports HDR in the specifications from the manufacture.

Actually the processor of the TV supports HDR but its panel doesn't. I think the server recognized that, but it fails to convert HDR to SDR somehow.

Hi.  Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares?

Thanks.

I can't do that. There isn't a app store on my TV.

Can you update the Android TV app to support HDR to SDR transcoding feature?

Please install the APK for the standard Android app from here: https://emby.media/emby-for-android.html

The TV uses Cortex A53 CPU, which is in the arm64 architecture. I tried all of the apks, only the installation of arm7 one is successful, but it crashed when I opened it.

The fact that in Jellyfin for Android TV every video just play correctly really surprised me.
