sh0rty 714 Posted August 14, 2024 Posted August 14, 2024 (edited) Weird thing is, neither my server got an update nor the Plugin. It suddenly stopped working under the same setup as it was working before. Edited August 14, 2024 by shorty1483
rbjtech 5284 Posted August 17, 2024 Posted August 17, 2024 This plugin was always a 'test' .. The use of plugins to fill fundamental gaps on emby functionality is becoming very tiresome. To not even have basic auto playlist/library creation after all these years is beyond frustrating. Its been #1 on the feature requests for ~8 years ... 1

As long as @bakes82does not fix the error (or perhaps work on a paid plugin version, dunno...), I used the MDBList python script from here, since most of my used trakt lists are on MDBList anyways. 1

bakes82 167 Posted August 18, 2024 Author Posted August 18, 2024 Yes the plugins had an expiration date. Emby wants to keep a walled garden for their plug-in store wanting to see code and tests before they give people access. So until they move to an inclusive setup where people and easily and automatically publish plugins. It’s just not worth developing anything the platform. It’s 2024 and we live in an automated world so I’m not going to manually upload a DLL, or run tests from a forum where you attach DLLs for new ideas and pushing out fixes/updates. I’m also not a fan of current implementation of not being able to limit a plugin to a specific version and only offering 1x payments. If I upload a plugin and it’s validated for 4.7 I don’t want to hear about I installed it on 4.8 and it’s not working. This should be prevented from the plugin store. Also we should be able to set a plugin for like 5$ a year or maybe 5$ for version 4.8 and have 1-2$ upgrade cost for 4.9. But again these are all things that will never happen. But rbj should be able to easily recreate these :p. 1

Hi, this isn't true. We don't ask developers for access to their code. But yes, testing in the forum before putting it directly into the catalog does help reduce troubleshooting.
rbjtech 5284 Posted August 18, 2024 Posted August 18, 2024 Tbh i'm holding out a little hope that core version 4.9 playlists, hopefully with front page pinning, may have some of this in it - or a flexible api that allows the import of such lists. But as history and experience has shown us, we may get just the bare essentials, leaving us disappointed on something that has taken 8 years to get implemented ... who knows, i'm hoping I am wrong.. 2

rbjtech 5284 Posted August 29, 2024 Posted August 29, 2024 (edited) Using this now - it works well and doesn't need trackt which is a bonus, it uses a direct API from MDB. https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/125215-python-script-emby-mdblist-collection-creator/#comment-1317692 Maybe a mod can close this thread as I don't believe bakes82 has any intention of continuing this plugin given his latest response above ? bakes82 167 Posted August 29, 2024 Author Posted August 29, 2024 @rbjtechI did mdb also it’s easier than trakt to implement until they change the public access private. 1
