anthony199206 1 Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Hi Everyone! I changed my ISP/TV provider this week, which allowed me to get rid of the set-top box. I bought a Hauppauge WinTV-DualHD USB tuner, installed Tvheadend on a mini PC, and integrated it into Emby. I have two LG TVs, both running Emby for LG 1.0.42. During live TV playback (direct stream/transcoding), I encountered a couple of issues on these devices. I believe the problem lies within the TV app since there are no issues on my Android phone or Emby Theater for Windows (though Emby Theater does not use direct play). 1. Navigation Issue: During direct play, I am unable to navigate using the directional buttons on the LG Magic Remote (2020 MR20 version, not the 2021+ models if that makes a difference). I must either open the info panel through the "More actions" menu or use the pointer. From that point, the directional buttons work perfectly. If I hide the navigation panel (or wait for it to disappear automatically), pressing any of the four directional buttons makes the navigation panel reappear, but I am once again unable to navigate unless I repeat the steps mentioned earlier. This behavior only occurs during live TV playback; it does not happen with any other media playback. The same issue occurs when I force transcoding, with the only difference being the presence of a "progress indicator", which is absent during direct stream. 2. Teletext Subtitles Issue: When a channel includes teletext subtitles, the Live TV playback always shows the teletext subtitles, even when subtitles are turned off in the client. I am unsure whether this is a limitation of the Emby client or if the TV itself displays teletext subtitles whenever they are part of a stream. I spent several hours trying to resolve this issue without finding any useful information, so I thought I would mention it here in case someone else encounters the same problem in the future. Note: I was able to overcome this issue by creating a filter in Tvheadend that removes the teletext stream. 3. Lack of Program Progress Indicator: There is a lack of a program progress indicator during direct stream. If I force transcoding, I see a red bar, but it still does not provide a similar progress indicator to what is present on the Android client. 4. Pause/Rewind Functionalities: When I searched for similar topics, I saw a comment from about a year ago stating that you are working on improving the Pause/Rewind functionalities, but I was unable to find any additional information on this topic. Given the other limitations of LG TVs, I would not be surprised if these are limitations on the TV side. The Rewind/Pause/Play/Fast-forward buttons are not present in the navigation bar. However, Pause/Resume works fine using the Pause/Play buttons on the Magic remote, and the OK button (the Wheel) also pauses/resumes the playback. 5. Recording Playback Options: During active recording, the Web App, Emby Theater, and Android app present two options when I press play on the channel that is actively recorded: play from the live position or play from the start of the recording. The same choices are not presented on the LG app. Is this a limitation on the TV's side that makes it impossible to have feature parity with other devices? I tried to search for platform-side limitations or a list of functions not available on the LG TV app, but I could not find anything on this topic. If you need any help diagnosing any one of these problems, I am happy to help.
Luke 42078 Posted June 23, 2024 Posted June 23, 2024 Hi, I think this should all be improved in the next update to the Emby LG app. Thanks for the feedback. 1

Luke 42078 Posted June 28, 2024 Posted June 28, 2024 Emby for LG TV's 1.0.43 has been released. Stay tuned to the blog for the release announcement.
tree2369 16 Posted July 28, 2024 Posted July 28, 2024 Hey Luke Still can’t seem to access the playback UI while viewing live tv unless I first scroll the wheel to make the pointer appear. Movies and Tv shows playback works as intended with the playback UI and directional buttons.
