Tommy 0 Posted June 22, 2024 Posted June 22, 2024 Here's another issue with sportscenter recordings. They all show up in the same library folder (see first image below). But they don't show up in the Emby for Android TV app, until I hit the "split versions apart" button in the web app (second image). Everything seems to default to S1:E1, and the only differentiation seems to be with the version differences, which appear to correlate to the start time and date for each recording. Of course, having to manually toggle the "split versions apart" button to be able to watch the recording on the TV is a major nuisance. Interestingly, the Emby for Android App has that button that can be clicked with the remote while viewing recordings on the TV. However, that app has other downsides like the one we've discussed - no "Play from Beginning" button, and many other features missing, like the ability to key in a specific channel, etc.

Luke 42077 Posted June 22, 2024 Posted June 22, 2024 I'm surprised it got set to season 1 episode 1. Was that in the guide data?
Tommy 0 Posted June 22, 2024 Author Posted June 22, 2024 (edited) Whoops. I thought I was using Emby's guide data, but I see that I have that channel mapped to a different guide source. I checked the XML file from that source and there is no episode info. I'll remap to Emby's guide and post results after a few shows are recorded. Edited June 22, 2024 by Tommy
Tommy 0 Posted June 23, 2024 Author Posted June 23, 2024 Using Emby's guide data resulted in the same behavior. The problem appears to be that when recording multiple shows where the guide data doesn't have episode tag information, all the recordings are named as different versions of S1:E1, as EBR stated. This causes the app to only show the first recording until the "split versions apart" button is clicked. Seems like the fix would be some kind of automatic separation of the versions when this scenario is encountered. Also note, that even after separating the versions so that all of the recordings are shown in the app, there is nothing identifying which is which, since all show E1S1. Ideally, the solution would show the assigned version number for each recording in the app, to give the user the ability to pick the most recent recording, or whichever one they choose, as the recording start date/time is contained in the version field.

Sounds like the crux of the issue is how we are handling items without season and episode information is conflicting with our multi-version naming.

Tommy 0 Posted June 24, 2024 Author Posted June 24, 2024 Quote How did you determine this? The programmes in the XML file that have an episode number assigned have a tag something like this: <episode-num system="xmltv_ns">20.46.</episode-num> There is no such tag on the programmes with this problem. I wrote a script to search for programmes with no episode assigned, and add one, with the season being the mmddyyyy, and the episode being the time that the show starts. Works fine, all the recordings show up in emby properly. But for some reason, the audio and video are out of sync on these shows. I have no idea why that would be related, but it seems to happen 100% of the time on these shows and never on shows that I didn't tinker with the XML file. Quote Just a note - the other items are there but they will be listed in the drop down "Video" on the detail page for the one you do see. Interesting, I had no clue I could access them that way. Looks like a good workaround.
Luke 42077 Posted June 24, 2024 Posted June 24, 2024 Quote <episode-num system="xmltv_ns">20.46.</episode-num> OK yes this gets parsed into actual season and episode numbers.
