ramansgdeep 3 Posted June 20, 2024 Posted June 20, 2024 Is it possible to ask the user, when setting up the server, to download or give them a choice to download Noto script for all the languages they can read. This setting can reside in the subtitle settings of the server configuration where subtitle display is configured. It will help in eliminating the need for trying to fit all the glyphs into one font or trying to eliminate glyphs like music symbol for fitting glyphs of some language that a specific user will never use. And they can manage and decide on their own what languages they want to download the scripts for. Moreover, this setting can also reside in the subtitle selector as something like "Missing fonts?" and clicking on it will show the user all the languages they have installed the fonts for, and all the languages they have not giving them the option to download the language they want to install. This will work similar in how language packs are downloaded for windows in settings. And obviously there will be some base fonts that covers English and symbols that will always be preloaded, and other scripts can be linked to their languages, so they automatically get loaded on the Emby app when selecting a subtitle of that specific language. This will also bring cohesion in the look of the subtitles since they all will belong to the same family- Noto. Obviously, this is a starting point, and many aspects of this have to be changed with the expertise of developers. But I think this could be a good idea.
