JosephD 4 Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 New Open Mediavault install, using Emby 4.9.0.24. LAN and WAN connections work but Emby server refuses to connect to internet for Emby premier key validation cannot connect to IMDB etc. cannot connect to download plugins. This is not a port forwarding issue. Any ideas ? Thanks.
Q-Droid 989 Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 Test outbound connections from your OMV server itself. Test using DNS names and straight IP addresses. Do you have other containers running that can connect to the internet? More often than not the problem is DNS followed by IPv4/IPv6 conflicts.

Via a command shell within the container using DNS, or via a non RFC 1918 IP WAN address direct ? What protocol ? HTTP ? How is the container taking to the outside world ? via a common container gateway ? The Emby executable itself will need access to those WAN addresses - so if you have any restrictions in place from the container itself - then that would be the first place to look. An emby log would also help - as it will show where the lookups are failing.
JosephD 4 Posted June 19, 2024 Author Posted June 19, 2024 Thanks for the suggestions, so OMV is able to connect for updates and I can reach it via IP an server name. I have used Emby on OMV for years and never encountered this issue. I am attaching Emby log. @rbjtechI can access Emby via Roku and Firefox on local lan. Emby can not access the internet. I am not running a Docker container just a standard install. Thank you! embyserver.txt
Q-Droid 989 Posted June 19, 2024 Posted June 19, 2024 Is your network gateway address x.166.2? It doesn't look like it's failing on a connection timeout but immediately, like the destination is unreachable. Are there restrictions or a firewall in OMV that would block the outbound connections? Something you might need to allow for users or applications.
Solution JosephD 4 Posted June 20, 2024 Author Solution Posted June 20, 2024 It was DNS on OMV interface once I set it to 1.1.1.1 and restarted Emby server fixed. Thank you all for your help ! Joseph 1
