Music files not recognised

Me again.

Server mounted on Windows 10 PC. Media library on Usb drive attached to PC. Want to access it from a Fetch Mighty. Fetch treats it as a file server not a web server.

Emby does not recognise .mp3, .ogg, .wma files. "E:\HYRULE\Music\Artists\The Beatles\The Beatles - 1963 - With The Beatles  [lib]" is recognised as a folder, but the folder is empty. "E:\HYRULE\Music\Artists\The Beatles\The Beatles - 1963 - With The Beatles  [lib]\01 - It Won't Be Long  [lib].mp3" exists in it but Emby does not show it. I get the same result from both the Fetch and the PC. If I add an .mp4 file to the directory and rescan the library I see the .mp4 file but not the .mp3 files.

Is this some sort of setting I've missed? Or is it a known bug? Thanks for your help.

Hi, what makes you think this? Emby supports these files just fine.

How many Emby libraries have you created, and what folder paths are added to each one?

I have one library called Media with the following folders in it: Comedy Records, Eurovision, Movies, Music, Music Videos, Radio, Television, Videos. The above slots in under the Music folder, but there is audio in four of these. Media is Home Video & Photos, because I was told it had to be set up that way to deal with the video stuff properly. The server serves up the video fine; it's the audio it's not recognising. Eurovision has both video and audio; the video shows up, the audio doesn't. It does not look like the structure is the problem, but rather that the server is not recognising the file types.

Have not tested but do not think Home Video and Photo support Music at all.  And a quick test confirms that you only get empty folders.

You will need to put the folder in a music library or Mixed content library.

Why am I not suprised.

I deleted the Media folder, then recreated it as Mixed Type, then added the 8 folders back. The new Media folder shows a list of the contents of Comedy Records combined with the contents of Eurovision. The folders Comedy Records, Eurovision, Movies, Music, Music Videos, Radio, Television, and Videos are not shown. I've tried scanning the library a couple of times and it doesn't change.

Music is tag driven and absolutely nothing to do with path.  There is currently no way around this.

Without full context it is impossible to say why your content is being combine.

I can't find a way to make Emby work for both audio and video. So I'll have top try another server. Thanks for your help.

You would just need to be able to separate your video folders from your audio folders and then you would be fine.
