Remote shut down / turn off computer

I  think it would be great if the apps had the ability to send a shut down signal to the computer on which the Emby server runs.

Specifically I use the Android TV app on an Nvidia Shield Pro, but I guess it's the same for the other apps.
The computer I use to run the Emby Server is in the basement, and it would just be great if when I log out of the app on my TV, I got prompted asking if I want to turn the computer off. So many times I forget to do this, and the computer remains unnecessarily on for lots of hours (usually until the next evening...).

There is this feature on the Steam Link app, and I find it super useful when I finish a gaming session on the tv :)

Cheers,

Servers are intended to run continuously. Why shut it down?

There are lots of reasons... electricity is expensive, wasting energy for nothing makes no sense, I do not watch movies while I sleep, computer parts break down faster if always turned on, reduce risk of electrical problems if there is a storm at night, +++

I literally don't see a single reason why my computer should be on 24/7.

From a user standpoint I do not see this working as it is an ADMIN function.  So if you are using an Admin account to watch content then maybe.

But don't believe this should be automated into any log off procedure.

Don't know which clients have wake server function but would assume you having your server go to sleep/hibernate would be more appropriate.

I could see this being inegrated into the dashboard; another option beside the existing restart and shutdown buttons (the ones that effect the software but not the machine).

Though I'm not sure that's even possible on all platforms. Can a docker container for example shutdown the host machine?

@Filosteelin the meantime; I think you're better off looking at using something like Pulseway to remotely monitor/shutdown the emby machine from your phone or other devices, or perhaps tools like ssh to send remote commands directly.
