Filosteel 2 Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 Hey everyone! This is my very first post, so I would like to start giving a big thank you to the developers. Emby is fantastic! About a week ago I switched over from Plex and never looked back. Plex was giving me lots of headaches and poop performance especially with large 4K files. Even when I moved my server up from the basement and hooked it directly to the router, Plex would still stop every minute to buffer. Absolutely unacceptable. Emby instead is playing everything super smooth with the served down in the basement where it's supposed to stay. You are miles ahead of Plex! I have just bought a lifetime licence and I am very happy to continue supporting this great project. I am writing because I face some small problems, where Emby does not fetch the right title or data. I carefully read the naming guide (both Movie Naming | Emby Documentation and TV Naming | Emby Documentation) and checked the forum here (especially this https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/114945-trying-to-add-the-film-blade-runner-2049-doesnt-scan/#comment-1212024 was useful!) But I am not figuring out how to fix it. I am having problems with: The series Unknown Soldier. I believe I have the right folder structure, and even included the TMBD id, but Emby reads the name with a dot that's not there, and doesn't fetch the other data; when I click on the poster-tile inside it has no other info. The series Astartes. Here it manages to find the right description, but doesn't get the artwork/other metadata. See attached screenshots. I have a couple more questions but different topics so I'll open new threads to keep everything clean. Again thanks, great job! Filo

jiggity 35 Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 (edited) It is a movie not a TV show So you are not getting any metadata https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/400728-tuntematon-sotilas Edited June 16, 2024 by jiggity 1

So, either: Unknown Soldier (2018) [tmdbid=84706] or Unknown Soldier (2018) [tvdbid=357511] Rename, (delete existing NFOs if saved with media), rescan. 1 hour ago, Filosteel said: 2. Here it manages to find the right description, but doesn't get the artwork/other metadata Likely because TVDB external site link leads to broken/dead link on TMDB, ID119326 instead of ID1236172. Try renaming to: Astartes (2018) [tvdbid=367549] Edited June 16, 2024 by GrimReaper 1
Filosteel 2 Posted June 16, 2024 Author Posted June 16, 2024 Thanks a lot both of you, it was stupid of me to add a movie id to a series. It's even the same actors, so I really didn't notice. 1 hour ago, GrimReaper said: Likely because TVDB external site link leads to broken/dead link on TMDB, ID119326 instead of ID1236172. Try renaming to: Astartes (2018) [tvdbid=367549] Out of curiosity, how did you find these other IDs? I don't seem to find anything with ID119326 (looks like one cannot search by ID on tmdb)
Filosteel 2 Posted June 16, 2024 Author Posted June 16, 2024 (edited) P.S. It doesn't seem to work, either with TVDB (Warhammer 40K Astartes (2018) [tvdbid=367549] ) or IMDB (Warhammer 40K Astartes (2018) [imdbid=10709628] ). The description is correct but no artwork or other episode data is downloaded. I think I'll just add some artwork manually myself No big deal. Edited June 16, 2024 by Filosteel

I don't seem to find anything with ID119326 (looks like one cannot search by ID on tmdb) As said, it's a broken/dead link. Click on TMDB link in Astartes TVDB page, see where it takes you. Astartes on TMDB is actually also a movie, so tmdbid wouldn't work anyway. But tvdbid should. Though artwork for it is quite limited, you should've gotten some. If you wanna chase it down, post server log. Edit: What are your preferred meta-providers enabled and in what order? Somehow you've got overview for Astartes from TMDB, not TVDB - and I don't see how would that be possible. Best thing to do would be to remove that series folder from your TV shows root, run scan media library task to clear the db, rename to exactly "Astartes (2018) [tvdbid=367549]", delete existing NFOs, if any, put the show folder back into your TV shows root, scan media library again. Happy2Play 9781 Posted June 16, 2024 Posted June 16, 2024 Yes lookups on each site are restricted to TV/Series or Movie and if I rememeber correctly the same id can exist on each side sometimes. as your example only works for movie. https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/1236172 https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/1236172 But just for testing here is one https://www.themoviedb.org/movie/91239 https://www.themoviedb.org/tv/91239

I just saved that image displayed by tdb as poster.jpg, then created my own thumbnails for the episodes taking screenshots. No big deal at all, and it works fine On 16/06/2024 at 19:19, GrimReaper said: Edit: What are your preferred meta-providers enabled and in what order? Good point, after checking I see that I did disable tvdb when I created the library. This because it's written "Please consider supporting TheTVDB by adding missing information or subscribing" ; so I thought it was a service relying on subscriptions, and I don't like using something that lives on subscriptions if I cannot support it somehow. So I chose not to use it. If that makes any sense Thanks to everyone for the help! Super useful. Edited June 17, 2024 by Filosteel 1
