Luke 42077 Posted July 10, 2024 Posted July 10, 2024 Quote But there is still question: How could the AncestorIds2 table be corrupted, only within the additional parts of some split movies? I think it is a defect caused by older server versions. I don't think you'd run into the same thing again with a fresh install of 4.8.

How to do this fresh install without losing my manually entered personal data?

But when you look in that time frame you have 4.4/4.5/4.6/4.7/4.8 major release with potential db changes in each version upgrade it is old. 11 minutes ago, Pokerness said: What do you mean by a fresh install of 4.8. ? New install, as for manually entered data if you do not save nfo with media it will be lost with any broken corrupted database.

And I'm delighted with the quality of this application. How to save the manually entered information (title, date, people, genre, collection, ...) with media so that it can be integrated into the first scan after a fresh install? How to transfer all images in the right folder related to movies or people or collections? To rebuild all collections? Vacuuming the database on the next Emby Server start might be a solution. Is it really safe? The best thing to do is not touch anything and cross my fingers!
Luke 42077 Posted July 11, 2024 Posted July 11, 2024 Vacuuming won’t have any effect on this just fyi.

The parts of split movies are detected and displayed. I refreshed the whole library with the Search for missing metadata option in order to keep my personal data. I haven't checked all the split movies yet, but it's OK for the few that have been checked. . I noticed that it's not possible to have more than 9 parts. In the Emby doc, the Naming your media page explains that the part numbering can be from 1 to 9 or from A to D. And apparently it's not possible to combine the 2 numbering modes together. I got around this limitation by creating an extras folder for the part from the 10th. I also tested rebuilding the AncestorIds2 table with a few lines of code. It seems to work fine For 54 affected split movies and 167 movie parts, I generated 669 lines and added them to the AncestorIds2 table. I noticed that the distance of the 2 top levels were sometimes numbered 50 and 1000 instead of the continuous sequence, e.g. 1,2, 50, 1000 instead of 1, 2, 3, 4. I made sure that the parts of a given movie used the same numbering as its first part. . It is not possible to force more than 9 parts. Over the 9th part, each of the other parts are integrated as a single new movie. At this stage, I'm not going to keep the database I've corrected, as I'm not sure of the side-effects of manual modification. But it's interesting to know where the error was in the database. But there is still question: How could the AncestorIds2 table be corrupted, only within the additional parts of some split movies? Hi, here's a quick look back over the last 10 days. In the end, I had to abandon the refresh solution. Even with the Search for missing metadata option, most of the people's metadata was deleted. And some unwanted metadata appeared. So I restarted from the library with the AncestorIds2 table restored. No problems for 8 days. Fingers crossed...

Hi @Luke Sure, vacuuming can't repair the missing parts of split movies. But is it usefull in order to verify the correctness of the library, in particular after the manual restoring of the AncestorIds2 table? Can we have side effects?

I don’t think it’s useful for that but no, no side effects.
