Emby Server Backup

Recommended Posts

Lg

Cross platform restores are really not possible as paths are totally different across the two.  There are several topics on trying to manually change path in the database to make this work but everyone has different setups and options so it is really impossible to cover every scenario.

Some of the basics.

UPDATE "main"."MediaItems" SET "Path" = replace( "Path", 'C:\Users\Media\Desktop\Videos', 'E:\Media' ) WHERE path LIKE 'C:\Users\Media\Desktop\Videos%';
UPDATE "main"."MediaItems" SET "Images" = replace( "Images", 'C:\Users\Media\Desktop\Videos', 'E:\Media' ) WHERE Images LIKE 'C:\Users\Media\Desktop\Videos%';
UPDATE "main"."MediaStreams2" SET "Path" = replace( "Path", 'C:\Users\Media\Desktop\Videos', 'E:\Media' ) WHERE path LIKE 'C:\Users\Media\Desktop\Videos%';
UPDATE "main"."Chapters3" SET "ImagePath" = replace( "ImagePath", 'C:\Users\Media\Desktop\Videos', 'E:\Media' ) WHERE imagepath LIKE 'C:\Users\Media\Desktop\Videos%';
UPDATE "main"."ItemExtradata" SET "Value" = replace( "Value", '"Path":"C:\\Users\\Media\\Desktop\\Videos', '"Path":"E:\\Media' ) WHERE value LIKE '%"Path":"C:\\Users\\Media\\Desktop\\Videos%';

If you filled in Network path on Library setup you will could need to update in options.xml and itemextradata. xml is obsolete in new 4.8+
Cinema Intro plugin paths
If you use AutoOrganizer you will need to update or delete the fileorganization.db
If you applied user images then path will need updated users.db

But doing a restore and removing all libraries or changing all folder paths in library setup if you don't want to try and manually update the db.

Blöde Frage, wie lange hat denn die Wiederherstellung aus dem Backup gedauert? Ich ziehe nämlich gerade von einer Syno auf einen Dell Rechner mit Linux Mint als VM um.

Hi, it depends on how large the backup is and what storage it is contained on. Where is the backup?

Meanwhile is the restore of the backup done. All my libraries remain on the NAS but I mounted them, with the same path like on the new device. The libraries are all there, but I miss all the covers from music and when I open the details of a movie the people and chapters show the missing pic symbol. When I click on one of the actors a picture is there next to the info text.

Can I solve this by copying some folders from the original server?

Sounds like you did not copy/backup the Emby metadata folder.  But probably need to see the server log as it should show errors of the path to what the db is looking for.

Yup, I didn't copy anything. I only pressed the restore from backup button. Was this a fault?

Depend on the options you enabled for backup but default no.

I tagged every one of this checkboxes before I made the backup.

Then may need to see server log for the Restore and to see the errors you are getting via the broken image display.

I fetched the logs since I activated this server, too...

I guess the oldest, is the relevant one, isn't it.

Little confused as it looks like all the metadata was restored to /volume1/Anime_Serien/EMBY Meta not Internal metadata path: /var/lib/emby/metadata and this is why the second log can not find the images it is looking for.

System.IO.DirectoryNotFoundException: Could not find a part of the path

But @Lukemay have to look at this as to me it restored to the wrong location.

Hmm, the /var/… path from the original device isn’t mounted on the new device. So the new server has no access tho this folder on the old device. I thought that this wasn’t necessary, because those data should be packed in the backup files themselves.

You configured the server metadata path on the old server, right? So this configuration got brought along to the new server.

Yes. It was configured on the old server but the new server have no access to the metadata path. All the metadata, like actor name and description are filled on the new server, tool. But I I miss the thumbnails from all the chapters and on the detail screen of a movie are the actor pictures missing, too. When I click on one of those actors for the detail view, the detail view opens and contains a picture.

Edit: Oh, and I miss the user pictures, too.

Edit: I further discovered, when I refresh the metadata and tick on to alter all pictures, the missing one will be filled again. Unfortunately are all my previously by hand  selected pictures, like primary and backgrounds, are overwritten, too.

Ok, ich habe jetzt das Backup einfach noch einmal darüber gebügelt. Bis auf die Bilder der Benutzer scheint jetzt alles da zu sein obwohl das Backup Tool einen Fehler gemeldet hat.

OK, I just ran the backup over it again. Apart from the user pictures, everything seems to be there now, even though the backup tool reported an error.

Hi, what error?
