Real Time Monitoring

Hi,
Currently real time monitoring does not do what one would expect

If you make changes to a file in place, say to change tags, or genre, the real time monitoring does not pick those changes up. To try and hopefully get those kind of changes reflected you need to refresh the metadata, which can be a whole issue leading to needing to remove the library or library items, and them reintroduce them to have the changes be scanned correctly.

I would like to see the monitoring be better, to reduce the need to have to do full library scans and metadata refreshes to simply have Emby acknowledge a change.

What exactly are you referring to that is being changed and not already being seen by RTM?

Specifically the multiple version NFOs will hold data that is not removed with bulky or the metadata manager
Realtime monitor will not reflect the changes.
The NFOs have to be manually removed and a metadata refresh has to be done to get the info to be updated, or the items have to be removed from the library and and a scan must be done.

At the same time what are you changing via a multi-versioned nfo?  Emby really only displays one nfo for all the items.  So changing metadata on primary item does not affect all grouped item nfo files.

Currently you have to split apart to read/write individual nfo files.

What did you not understand?

I removed tags with Bulky
Tags were left in the multiple version NFOs
Those tags could not be edited out with bulky, or the metadata manager, they remained visible
Manually editing the NFOs or deleting them did not change the visible content in Emby until a metadata refresh was performed.

The RTM does not pick up these changes,

Can you not follow this?

Sure but Grouped items nfo don't work that way.  As Emby only uses one nfo for all items.  So what you are doing does not entirely make since.

From a Emby standpoint you have to split apart the grouping and edit each item individually and regroup them but still only one nfo will be read for the grouping.  But I guess from a Parental controls standpoint yes the individual db item it will/can be filtered per tags.  

But testing a grouped item nfo manually, one if the items that is not the default UI displayed version triggered RTM just fine.  Doesn't mean the UI will know of any change as it is not the default display version.

May have to test with Bulky some more but cannot accomplish editing all grouped items only one just like the UI/Metadata Manager.

So still not sure what you are trying to accomplish.
