RemoteService Unavailable Exception

I'm getting an error trying to play IPTV with my VPN.  Local files play fine.

I have whitelisted Emby in VPN software.

Never had a problem before; not sure if something changed on Emby or VPN side.

Is there another emby app i need to add to the whitelist?

Try adding ffmpeg to the list.

I was hoping for something simple like that but still wont connect.  I have whitelisted everything that looks emby-related:

Log sent PM.

If I disable VPN Bypass (remove all from whitelist) IPTV works fine again but remote connections are blocked.  If I add to whitelist, remote opens up IPTV stops working.

I don't know what to tell you other than you'll have to find out the reason why this is happening. The VPN is doing something to the request that the iptv provider doesn't like.

Maybe the VPN is making the request look like it's coming from a place that the provider is geo-blocking. I saw that happen to someone else.

Ok, thanks for taking a look...

Its definitely something with the VPN but its odd that IPTV works fine when Embserver.exe is behind the VPN but not when its whitelisted.

Everything (IPTV and remote access) work fine when I dont use the VPN at all but sometimes my ISP will throttle the IPTV making VPN necessary.

@ChilloutI am having the same issue as well. Only just started for me, and is happening on 2 different IPTV services.

Did you find out what the issue was?

Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!

Everything was working fine last night, but this morning I am getting the error.

Nothing has changed on my server. I have tried restarting my qnap

Yes but the whole world continues to change around your server and you are trying to reach a remote domain. Looks like the request timed out in this example.

I know this is going to be a silly question, but gonna ask anyway.

Do you have any idea why its timing out (don't know if there a clues in the logs).

I have an app from the same IPTV provider, and that is working perfectly

Hi.  Most likely, the source you are trying to reach has changed something.

i doubt it is the IPTV provider, as I have tried 2 different ones, with the same issue.

Starting to wonder if something has happened on my QNAP during the night - don't know much about the inner workings though, so looks like it's the end of live tv in Emby for me

Seems a little extreme for what could be a temporary outage, no?

Well I just don't know where to go from here.

Both providers say they haven't changed anything

Tried disabling the vpn on my server, but no change

Restarted my server and router several times as well

My issue was related to using split tunnelling /whitelisting the Emby.Server with my VPN software.

Once I disabled that,   Emby worked fine but I lost my remote connection. I found a workaround and moved on.

I'd try playing the IPTV directly with VLC to rule out a provider issue, but I think this issue is related to a local network setting...

Thanks for the info @Chillout

My provider uses an app as well and that works. Just installed Emby on my laptop and that's working as well, so must be something on my Qnap. I've tried disabling the VPN and even uninstalling it, but still have the same issue

Did you figure this out?

I don't know what you changed in the M3U tuner updates, but live tv is now working for me

Many thanks
