ScottMWilkinson 1 Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 (edited) Disclaimer: I'm something of an idiot. I did attempt the search feature but.. I have a Dynamic DNS via dynu.com, if I direct that dynamic DNS to my IP address and port, the url (say, MyDomain.com) works fine. But the apps, requiring a port, seem to quit working (and MyDomain.com:8096 also doesn't work). Alternatively if I just direct it to my IP address the url doesn't work without the port call (MyDomain.com:8096) but the apps work again. I've kind-of sort-of set it to the best of all worlds with by redirecting Emby.MyDomain.com to the 8096 port, so the apps work and nobody has to remember to type ":8096" at the end of the url. But I'd much prefer if everyone who uses my server remotely, who are somehow less tech capable than even I am, could just put in MyDomain.com into either the app or a browser and have it function. Is there something obvious I'm doing wrong that I could fix? Edited June 13, 2024 by ScottMWilkinson clarity

Happy2Play 9781 Posted June 13, 2024 Posted June 13, 2024 Sounds like OP want port 80 so url works. So these steps but with port 80 if I understand correctly. 1
ScottMWilkinson 1 Posted June 13, 2024 Author Posted June 13, 2024 Asking which port should be used was a bit of a eureka moment. Google informed me that clients automatically ask for port 80, I told my router to send all requests for port 80 to 8096 on the host machine along with all requests for 8096 and wouldn't you know it, everything works perfect, asking for MyDomain.com or MyDomain.com:8096 now all lead to the correct place! Thank you both! 1
