renefw 2 Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 I set up three Emby servers on three QNAP's. These also work without any problems on Android TVs. When playing series, a “Skip Intro” button will be displayed during intros. What can I do so that this "Skip Intro" button is also displayed on Emby on my Samsung TV. This is completely missing there. I installed the app from the Samsung App Store. Emby for Samsung 1.2.6 is available there.
Luke 42077 Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 Hi, it is available in newer app versions. We might not be able to update the app in the store for your device anymore but you can manually install the update via usb.
renefw 2 Posted June 10, 2024 Author Posted June 10, 2024 I have a Samsung UE55NU7179UXZG. Do I have to download the tizen.zip or which one is the right one? When can we expect that a newer version will be available to download from the Samsung Store? If I understand you correctly, Samsung releases a new version every month. Why is it that no newer ones have been published since April 29, 2022? That's more than 2 years now.

Unfortunately Samsung has a policy of no longer accepting app updates for TV models that are over four years old. The developer portal won't even let us submit an update for it anymore.
renefw 2 Posted June 11, 2024 Author Posted June 11, 2024 Based on what you write, I suspect that version 1.2.6 of emby will be available in the Samsung Store forever. You write that Samsung will not accept app updates for TV models for 4 years, if I understood you correctly. Does this only affect the emby app or all apps available there? Otherwise, what is Samsung's stated reason that it only affects the emby app?
all4dom 101 Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 What I'm trying to understand is if my tv is a 2023 model, samsung allows 4 or 5 years of updates then why is my samsung tv app store showing a Jan 23, 2024 emby app version when we are like 5 to 10 updates ahead.

Also the submission page does say that we can email our Samsung rep to request the ability to push a one-time update for older models, but despite our repeated attempts we get no response from them about that.

Store updates take much longer to submit and get tested, approved and published by Samsung. The USB beta is quicker and happens more often. Without the beta there would only be store based app updates which would be less regular.
all4dom 101 Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 I have been seeing that with samsung since I purchased their tvs. Problem is 6 months is way too long. I regret buying a samaung tv * even staying in thier ecosystem as I think they have gotten sloppy & slow. I don't want to have to.update every 30 days because that's a PITA. I don't blame emby because it's not their fault. As i.continue to replace tvs & gadgets in general I may just look to slowly move away from them.
