The misterious case of disapearing Episodes Thubnails

Hi, since some weeks ago I'm suffering a strang issue with some shows where the thumbnails disappear.

I've a configuration were images as stored in the media folder:

And I've updated Emby Serve to the latest version to see if this was solverd, but the problem persist:

The issue is not always affecting the same episodes but seems it's always related to a specific show and season(s), not affecting the others.

Here is an example with Star Trek Discovery Season 5 where the images disappeared for 3 episodes (this is from yesterday):

I've manually entered the episode Click-> Edit Images -> Look for images on TVdb -> Add the 1st image for all missing episodes:

And this is how looks like today, again:

2 of the thumbnails have disappeared from the Emby show view and even from the filesystem

I'm using a WD PR4100, and as I said this is happening to various shows, always the same ones and same seasons but not always the same episodes.

I'm attaching the server log in case is needed.

It's very anoying and seems happens during the night, probably with one of the processes scheduled to run.

OK, Will do it today but I will need to wait until tomorrow to see if this happens again, I will keep you updated.

My guess would be Episode Refresh plugin.   But maybe not as it only looks back 7 days unless changed.  Doesn't Watch History duplicate item so maybe that.  Don't see how any of the others would have anything to do with it.

Episode refresh seems only updates episode title metadata.

I don't understand how modification into emby database changing the title can delete a file in my filesystem.

Not according to the Episode Refresh topic.

Watch History created multi-versioning on Episodes, correct?  Just going off other topics as might be that episode is not properly using existing episode image?  But you can easily look at the episode in the db to see if it has an image or not.

Or maybe I'm wrong, this is from the github repo for "EpisodeRefresh" TaskRefresh.cs, but at least seems forces image refresh, something I understand must not do it.

Yes but I would assume it would be getting the exact same image that is already there and only goes back 7 days configure different from default.  So in your example I don't see how S05E01 can lose its image from the plugin from a release date standpoint.

Can't test Watch History as it was removed from catalog and no link on topic.  But do those items multi-version do to plugin?

I have changed the 7 days to 100.

Most Anime shows are updated too late in tvdb, and it's a way to keep it up to date.

Unfortunately the plugin is global and cannot be configured per library

In any case, as I said in my previous post, I don't think that the Refresh Episode must change the existing pictures, for me is a mistake, and if it's this just turning this to false will solve the issue.

Stats  and Samsung Smart things should be unrelated.

The others, without being familiar with what exactly they do, I can't really say.

In 2 hours, the server will start nightly tasks. 

Let's see what I found in the morning (1.15 am here right now).

Out of the list I believe only Episdoe Refresh and maybe Watch History do to db item duplication.

Well technically you can run it whenever you like manually.  But we can wait.  And yes since you changed from 7 to 100 I can see this possibly being a issue but don't know how it would not see the exact same images Emby can get.

In fact I've removed all requested plugins except this one and classification mapper (a lot of manual options configured and no export options...and only related to movies).

And I've run the tasks manually and nothing happened to those episodes .... but I know there are other processes that are executed overnight that take +3 hours .... I prefer to wait.

BTW what the "Process strm targets" task does ? A lot of times fails to complete but I'm not sure what is doing ...

Not positive but believe Strm Extract plugin, so it would be attempting to get media info for your strm files.

By default, when you use STRM files in Emby it will not prob the target file that is pointed to by the STRM, this is mainly for library scan performance reasons but does leave holes in your library media metadata like durations, stream info etc.
This plugin will try to plug the holes by prompting Emby to do a deep remote prob on the strm target files.

Oh, thanks, then I don't need that.

There's an easy way to fill this data, play the file once  and I always do when creating a STRM file to check the target is reachable and I did not made any mistake.

But a quick test of Episode Refresh I believe it reproduced the issue as it changed from extracted images to Series Thumb.  As all three were like bottom image.

But probably need to test with a provider series to see the if the issue is in the provider query.

Seems exactly my case with the difference that my shows pick up the image from tvdb as default instead image extraction, with no issues on emby library scans....

Hmm with provider it looks like is worked just fine in my test environment as it redownloaded provider image.

Well seems that none of the remaining plugins are causing the issue, not Episode Refresh not Classification Mapper.

At least today the images are still present.

Any ideas which one can caused the issue ?

My other guess was Watch History.  Was it creating multi-versioning on the episodes?

Nope.

Will reintall it and let's see what happens today
