"Open in external player" option for all users

Hi there, is it possible to add a "Open in external player" button next to "PLAY" button? I saw EmbyExternalPlayerLauncher but as i understand is to play with MPC in my computer right? I read the install manual and nothing to add to server so i presume that is only if i need to play some files in my server using web interface but i want to add a button like TiviMate have.

While i understand the desire for using an external player I do not think the "external player" needs to be exposed for everybody. It would just confuse many/most users.

The option for using an external player already exists in Emby and we do NOT need to add confusing buttons to any user interface. Use the tools that exist instead of trying to add new ones.

You didnt understand. 

For example: IM on my computer and my server is my room corner. I connect via browser or via emby app, or with phone via emby or html, or with remote players like my sister at her home via emby or html. I just want add a button to open video with external player and the behaviour will be open the window to "Open Video with..." and you have to choose a program installed on the respective devie to open. So simple than this. And why? I had a lor of problems with default player mooving 3hrs video from 00:00:00 to 02:01:05 for example. it freazes a long time and give error. i already converted videos to mp4 with wondershare.

I just want to moove  a 3hrs show to 1hr time and it freezes a long time and after that give error not specified to help solve problem. So viewers are forced to view all show without forrward or backward in time...non sense...

So this simple option (html, css, whatever, code) is not possible? Cant believe! 

I really love Emby but Emby player and Emby Live TV are a disaster and i dont pay Premium because of this - doesnt work.

So you want them to implement something, which is technically already there you just have to set it up, instead of asking for support with a playback issue? No comment on live TV, I don't use that feature, but moving around a fully available video shouldn't be a problem. Maybe provide an example?

What Emby player as the majority of players are the platform/client/app default player and the web interface is your browsers player ie nothing to do with Emby.

But sounds like you want what Emby tries to do in some of their Premiere clients with external players.  Personally, don't see this happening in the web client but if it did then would be a Premiere feature also.

But this really lacks context of an issue.

Premiere or not premiere what i want is a button that says "Open with..." and you choose from any external player that you have installed on your device. Normal behavior of system that play media or any other file like windows ask how to run that file. 
Easy  than this.

Again: and why? because emby player trip out with videos more than 2 hours, if i put a video to 10m or 20m or 1:00m later it freezees and give error. I need to see all video until one hour to see the part that i didnt see. Wahts the sense?

But i have to say 1 hour videos player rewind and foward works good. Just very long give error and converted to mp4 as manual.

I have no issues navigating through long videos, some 3-4 hour movies whether they transcode or are direct playing, perhaps you should provide an example?

Still no context but will guess the media is being Transcoded and you can't jump in media as you like would be a wild guess.

But can say media duration really has no factor here beside maybe transcoding space requirements and watch 3+ content in web client and device clients without issue but 99% of the time are Direct Playing.

So you want to add an extra button that very very few users will use, the Emby player is fine for 99% or more users. You want Emby to add a button that is already implemented in another way. That is in settings you can choose an external player but that is not good enough and you want to clutter up the interface for everybody.
I just don't understand why that would be an advantage for the vast majority of users. 

BTW: I can play videos, regardless of length, just fine on all my clients. I just watched one last night that is 4 1/2 hours long.

Where? Can you explain please? Is this option that i asked on first post. (from Tivimate app). Or if i have another solution...instead be forced to use internal player...

 

Example of this Taylor Swift EXTENDED version (3 hours), i put 10 minutos later and stop playback and give error. I cant move time, if i moove time it stops. Already converted but i will try to convert again use MakeMkv but what i really want is use external.

Instead of proposing an imagined solution for an unknown problem, try reporting the actual problem with evidence such as logs so that the true cause can be established and fixed.

So i converted the file with MAKEMKV and is much better as i can jump in time but it freezees like a stream channel with breaks. Stop and come back after seconds. Tried to put pause to video load and after play but is the same. But...same file through Windows File Share, and with MX Player it works perfect without any break and i can moove in time. Only through Emby happen this. Tried also put quality 480p...same result. There is no logs, logs just say that i started to play and stopped to play, just this. (the error before converted file was problem with codec audio, but now is ok and no any error, just buffer problems).

Isf has already resolved by leaving. 

1. As a point of interest, a fix would be to encode the master media to work flawlessly for browser playback so no transcoding would be required.  Done correctly, playback should work fine.  It is true that either finding content that already perfect for browser playback (non .mkv) or reencoding, are both topics with many opposing views and multiple steps.  Hardly anyone on this site does this.  I think I am the only one.  
2. It is possible to just use the third party player and go find the content.  The user interface is at most a thumbnail and play button, not very nice and you miss all Emby's wonderful dbase info and clickable extras.  And this is fairly tricky to do, easy to get lost and often fails to work from TV Apps.

Hi.  Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares?
