Then you should be able to use the ChannelsDVR feed in Emby as @daldanadescribed here: 17 hours ago, daldana said: @EkoOneTry this as the M3U url instead; http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8089/devices/M3U-PlutoTV/channels.m3u?format=ts. The way you have it setup now, it's not pulling through Channels.
daldana 122 Posted January 30, 2025 Posted January 30, 2025 @EkoOneOk, this could be an Emby problem, so logs will probably be needed. @CarloShould a new thread be started?
Carlo 4560 Posted January 30, 2025 Posted January 30, 2025 Not needed. The problem is Pluto and Stirr use non-standard streaming mechanisms likely on purpose to make it hard to view Pluto streams outside their apps. A bunch of people, myself included broke down what they were doing to see if we could get a patch or two added in ffmpeg, but they were rejected. It's rather "hacky" so I don't blame ffmpeg for rejecting them as it could break something else. I don't remember specifics, but ChannelsDVR made domain specific changes to handle this.

daldana 122 Posted January 30, 2025 Posted January 30, 2025 (edited) @Carlo Interesting, I don't have of those stalling issues after commercial breaks with Pluto channels. I don't use Stirr, so I can't comment on that. I thought maybe it could have been something about using the Shield as a server. Edited January 30, 2025 by daldana
EkoOne 5 Posted January 30, 2025 Posted January 30, 2025 Ok, so I deleted all the Emby TV source and guide settings and started from scratch using the settings @daldanasuggested. Now the Emby Live TV guide shows double entries for every Pluto channel. Interestingly when I click a channel (e.g. 30 Pluto Action) that also shows the guide data (Mission Impossible) it comes up as "No tuner found." But... if I click the channel icon (e.g. 30 Pluto Action) for the empty field and hit "Watch" the stream plays as expected. Note: None of the movie images/artwork are displayed in the player window, just the "Watch" and "Record" buttons and the Pluto TV logo in the upper-left. Most importantly when the commercials start it plays through then continues with the movie as expected. No stalling. Perfect.
daldana 122 Posted January 31, 2025 Posted January 31, 2025 @EkoOneIn the Live TV setup in Emby, look in the "Channels" tab and you should see some of the Pluto channels are not mapped to guide data. Try clicking on one of the channels and see if will allow you to map it. You also should be able to uncheck the channels that won't play.
EkoOne 5 Posted January 31, 2025 Posted January 31, 2025 It appears to (finally) be working as it should which is to say it works better than the actual Pluto website. Thank you for all the help. Now to get Stirr into Emby.

It works a little better on mobile but it still hangs, though after about 30s the video starts again but fast forwards several seconds into the movie while the remaining audio from the commercial plays under it. Almost as though it were attempting to fast forward through the commercials but didn't know when to stop and went too far. Very strange. This might not be usable after all. Though the custom Pluto channel as configured in Channels works perfectly so I'm not sure why Emby struggles with it. You are using "nocords" as your source in Emby. You need to use the M3U generated from channels as the source. That WILL solve your issue. I believe Emby will eventually solve whatever the issue is with Pluto. Until then the ChannelsDVR method is the way to go.
FredBackley 0 Posted January 31, 2025 Posted January 31, 2025 While ago you could not use pluto tv guide , now you can lol before it was not allowed Now all a sudden its good to go lol
FredBackley 0 Posted February 2, 2025 Posted February 2, 2025 Pluto TV sucks imo, I wouldnt even bother with looking for a guide aka epg ... just forget it. But for some reason your stubborn pm me I will give you your epg guide data.
Carlo 4560 Posted February 6, 2025 Posted February 6, 2025 I won't say Pluto TV sucks, but their stream implementation does! It would not surprise me if the implementation is this way on purpose, figuring after enough hassle, people will just use their app to watch the channels.
daldana 122 Posted February 7, 2025 Posted February 7, 2025 @CarloSpeaking only for myself, but I've not had any problems with Pluto ported over from Channels DVR.
Carlo 4560 Posted February 7, 2025 Posted February 7, 2025 It worked for me that way as well which I thought I mentioned earlier. I wouldn't recommend someone getting a CDVR subscription, just for Pluto as there are other similar channels without the issues.
daldana 122 Posted February 7, 2025 Posted February 7, 2025 I wouldn't either, not just for Pluto, but being able to get TVE channels (like my Spectrum account) and bring them into Emby is very nice. They're also doing some neat stuff with Chrome Captures...
