acg260 3 Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 Hello everyone! I have emby running on windows with CDVR on windows and pluto for channels on docker. Everything was running fine with the guide completely populated. I reorganized some live tv sources (other than pluto) to change their channel numbers to regroup them by content type and ever since, like half of my pluto channels have lost their guide data. I am quite puzzled by this issue, as I did not change anything related to them, only other sources. Is it a known issue that the guide data comes and goes or did I do something wrong? Thanks
Luke 42077 Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 Hi, have you checked the channel mappings to see that all tuner channels are mapped to guide channels?

Do I see that in the metadata tab? Weird thing is, everything was populating properly completely automatically from the point I linked the epg from pluto for channels and then poof, half of them were gone.

Hi, in the Channels tab in Live TV setup.
acg260 3 Posted June 8, 2024 Author Posted June 8, 2024 Some channels lost their link in the channel mappings, thanks so much, I relinked them and voilà! 1
EkoOne 5 Posted January 28, 2025 Posted January 28, 2025 After reading a lot of posts about integrating Pluto TV into the Emby Live TV guide I was able to add Pluto as a guide source in Emby but the (Pluto) guide data is missing because I can't figure out how to pull it in. All the Pluto channels appear and the content plays but there's no listing of the actual content titles for any of the Pluto channels. I've read a lot of different suggestions about how to pull it in but honestly there seems to be a lot of conflicting information. Or maybe it's just confusing me. Is there a definitive explanation of how to pull in the Pluto guide data into Emby? I also use Channels and have successfully added Pluto TV to the Channels guide. So if using Channels as a tuner source is easier to setup then I'd be glad to know how to do that. It doesn't really matter to me how I pull in the Pluto guide data, I just need a clear step-by-step.
daldana 122 Posted January 28, 2025 Posted January 28, 2025 I use Channels as a tuner source for bringing in multiple services, i.e., Pluto and Tubi, into Emby. First though, are you running the Channels server on the same machine as the Emby server?
EkoOne 5 Posted January 28, 2025 Posted January 28, 2025 @daldanaNo. Emby is running on a NVIDIA Shield Pro and Channels on a MacBook Pro. I would prefer to have both on the same machine but that's currently not an option for me. Also, if I'm only interested in Channels as an OTA tuner is the DVR aspect even necessary for use as an Emby tuner source? I would prefer to not pay for a Channels subscription.
daldana 122 Posted January 28, 2025 Posted January 28, 2025 I'm not sure if the DVR subscription is needed, as I do have one. If you can add a new source in Channels as a Custom Channel, then you may not need not need the subscription.
EkoOne 5 Posted January 28, 2025 Posted January 28, 2025 Well, the Pluto guide data works as expected in Channels, so that's good. But what's the trick to getting the same Pluto guide data to appear in the Emby guide? I'm so close. The Pluto channels appear in the Emby guide and the content plays, now I just need to get the actual program guide data to show in Emby.
daldana 122 Posted January 29, 2025 Posted January 29, 2025 So you've already setup an M3U tuner for Pluto in Emby? You can try setting up an XmlTV Guide Data Source with this url; http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8089/devices/ANY/guide/xmltv?duration=1209600. Use the ip address from your Macbook and make sure your M3U tuner for PlutoTV is the only one selected. 1
EkoOne 5 Posted January 29, 2025 Posted January 29, 2025 @daldanaIt worked, thank you so much! What's interesting is when I access the Pluto TV website on my laptop live tv rarely loads regardless of the browser, even with ad blockers disabled. It's a flaky mess but it works fine on mobile for some reason. I was concerned I might have the same problem accessing Pluto live tv via Emby but it works great. Go figure. I have no idea why but at least I can watch Pluto on my laptop once more. Thanks again.
daldana 122 Posted January 29, 2025 Posted January 29, 2025 Great! I love being able to integrate these things in Emby, enjoy!
EkoOne 5 Posted January 29, 2025 Posted January 29, 2025 (edited) @daldanaOne thing I've noticed is when a commercial begins on a Pluto channel (played via Emby) the stream stalls. Backing out of the player and hitting "Play" again will pick up the stream where it left off but only until the next commercial break begins. Happens on all the devices I use with Emby. daldana 122 Posted January 29, 2025 Posted January 29, 2025 @EkoOneTry changing the the stream format in your Custom Channel source in Channels to HLS. It might be defaulted to Mpeg-TS.

Do you have Pluto's m3u playlist setup in Emby or ChannelsDVR? 1

daldana 122 Posted January 30, 2025 Posted January 30, 2025 @EkoOne Here is my Channels source. I haven't had that issue come up.
EkoOne 5 Posted January 30, 2025 Posted January 30, 2025 @daldanaMy Channels (Pluto) settings didn't exactly mirror yours so I updated them to match. As for Emby (Pluto) Live TV can you share your Source and Guide Data settings? I want to be sure mine are correct.
daldana 122 Posted January 30, 2025 Posted January 30, 2025 @EkoOneIt might be easier if you show me your Emby M3U tuner for Pluto. You already have the Guide settings I use. Do you have Favorite channels marked in the Pluto lineup in Channels? The reason it might be easier is that I don't have a separate tuner for Pluto.
EkoOne 5 Posted January 30, 2025 Posted January 30, 2025 Here are the Emby/Pluto Source and Guide settings.
daldana 122 Posted January 30, 2025 Posted January 30, 2025 @EkoOneTry this as the M3U url instead; http://xxx.xxx.xxx.xxx:8089/devices/M3U-PlutoTV/channels.m3u?format=ts. The way you have it setup now, it's not pulling through Channels. 1
EkoOne 5 Posted January 30, 2025 Posted January 30, 2025 (edited) Hmmm, it still hangs on every commercial break (laptop). It works a little better on mobile but it still hangs, though after about 30s the video starts again but fast forwards several seconds into the movie while the remaining audio from the commercial plays under it. Almost as though it were attempting to fast forward through the commercials but didn't know when to stop and went too far. Very strange. This might not be usable after all. Though the custom Pluto channel as configured in Channels works perfectly so I'm not sure why Emby struggles with it. Edited January 30, 2025 by EkoOne
daldana 122 Posted January 30, 2025 Posted January 30, 2025 When you watch Pluto directly through Channels, does it have the same problem? 1
