rockinyp 6 Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 (edited) I'm using a custom domain and a PositiveSSL via DDNS to remotely access my Synology. It's all setup and working properly on Synology DSM 7.2. Is there a simple way to have Emby use this certificate along with my existing custom domain for my Synology or do I need to generate a new certificate from scratch for Emby? I'd like to be able to securely access my Emby server when I'm not on my home network. I figured it'd just be my existing domain with :8920 trailing the URL. Is that correct? Thanks! Solution dethknite 45 Posted June 5, 2024 Solution Posted June 5, 2024 (edited) Yes you can use a custom domain (I use a custom domain through namecheap as well). Just put the pfx cert on the nas in a location Emby can access, and configure it in the Network Tab. You will only be able to use one.. so if you use the synology cert (something like myuser22.synology.me), then your custom domain would be myuser22.synology.me. If you use your namecheap domain, (something like mynamecheapacct303.com), then you would use mynamechapacct303.com. If you use subdomains on that, then you would enter that, but it must be included on your cert (unless it is a wildcard cert) -- ie. emby.mynamechapacct303.com. Required for custom domain: External Domain: mynamecheapdomain.com Custom SSL certificate path: /mnt/somesharedpath/mynamecheapdomaincert.pfx Certificate password: password for the cert if it is protected Edited June 5, 2024 by dethknite 1
