darrenkdean 31 Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 (edited) Good Evening, It appears that all of our Amazon Fire TV devices are running Emby for Fire TV v2.0.79a. I decided to investigate this evening, as the Profile PIN has not worked on this version & has made switching between profiles on the same device not as user friendly. To my pleasant surprise, v2.0.98a is the current version & after testing, it smoothly switches between authorized profiles again. Here's my dilemma: There does not appear to be a method to upgrade from v2.0.79a to v2.0.98a. When I go to the Apps Library, press the menu button on the remote control while hovering over Emby, & select More Info, it only gives me the option to open Emby, not update it. It's as if the device is not recognizing that a new version is available. The only method that has worked so far, is to uninstall the app, reinstall the app, & reconfigure the Emby App as new to the device. Any thoughts on this? Is there an upgrade option? Appreciate you all as always. Not the end of the world to uninstall/reinstall, but would be easier & wish I had realized awhile ago that new versions of the app were out. Best- Edited June 4, 2024 by darrenkdean
Luke 42077 Posted June 4, 2024 Posted June 4, 2024 Hi. Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.

Best- For the Release versions (the version you would get if you added it from the Store) then it 'should' automatically update - mine has updated to 2.0.98a on those I cannot get to to manually update. If you want the latest and greatest (and there have been 14 beta releases since 2.0.98a - AndroidTV is still very much an active and cutting edge application I am glad to say .. ) then if you are manually updating - then you may as well use the latest beta. It is not dependent on the Server beta - it works just fine with the main server Release. Latest is 2.1.14 - Release 28th May https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/42240-emby-android-tv-release-notes-beta/#comment-393000 Edited June 4, 2024 by rbjtech

Possible, though I don't "think" I sideloaded. More likely, when upgrading/replacing devices, I restored from previous profiles/devices. Possible this might be interfering with the update. Also possible I sideloaded the original & have been restoring backups of a sideboard, lol. Will leave a couple on the current version from the store to test when the next update comes out & move the rest to the current beta. Much appreciated as always!
