Emby updates won't work for me

Dear Emby users and admins,

I do not know if this is de right place for it, if not my apologies, but I have a little problem.
I have an Emby server currently running at 4.8.6.0.
If I update the server to the latest version and don't use it for a few hours,
it seems as if it has thrown out all the data from the previous version.
I would like to update it, but this is not possible for me.
I will run the server on 4.8.6.0 unless there is a solution to this problem, I would be happy to recommend it.
Awaiting response.
Sincerely,

leider12000

Hi, can you please provide an example of what you mean? Thanks.

Dear Luke,

Yes, I have a example for you.

I my library I have the next categories: Movies, audiobooks, music, TV-Shows and random Videos. With version 4.8.6.0 everything is fine, but as soon as I start to install the latest version of Emby then things go wrong.

After the update everything is fine, but if I haven't used Emby for a couple hours then it goes wrong. Let's say I want to watch a movie, that's not possible that categorie is than empty.
if I go to let's say a I want to wacht a TV-Show that's not possible that one is also emty. The rest of the library is then empty too. It's looks like it has deleted my whole library of metadata.

I hope this will help.

Sincerely,

Can you post the server logs for this upgrade showing the issue.

Do you have parental controls set on user?

Dearry Happy2Play,

I am sorry but I do not have the server logs when I have upgraded. 😑

I had a parental control on it, but later I read that it was not fully completed. So I did a fresh install of my current version.

Little bit of a correction of my last post. 😒

I said: "I had a parental control on it, but later I read that it was not fully completed. So I did a fresh install of my current version." I was suppose to say: "I had parental control enabled, but later I read that it wasn't completely finished yet. So I think I did a clean install of my current version, but I'm not sure."

HI, please try running a library scan and then attach the emby server log after that.

Or did you do a fresh install and you're all set now?

I then did a library scan of all my categories, unfortunately that did not appear to work. Unfortunately I do not have the log files so I can't attach it 😕

I think I may have then done a clean install of 4.8.6.0. (But I do not know for sure 😉) I'm just questioning now whether I can then install and keep installing the latest version.

If you guys say install the latest version see if it would work. I made a backup of the current version if things go wrong. So that I can go back to the current version.

I would suggest updating, and then if you run into a problem, let's look at it before you rollback. Thanks.

Little update:

Yesterday I have installed the latest version of Emby I think it is 4.8.8.0. I have waited minimal of half a day to a day. As far I can see at the moment it still goes good.

I hope it stays that way, otherwise I come back again with hopefully log files,
so you guys can look at them possibly tell me what I can do to prevent it from happening again next time.

I think that I did a clean install did from version 4.8.6.0.
