hearingaid1970 0 Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Can someone out there help? I have emby installed on its own windows computer with all my video and music mapped to a home network NAS. I installed the only game browser plugin that was available in the catalogue. I created the games folder and tried to setup some emulators and games to test, but none of the systems seem to display and once in a while, the games go missing from the Emby. no matter what I do, I can not seem to get the games working in any way... I tried installing Emby theatre on a separate computer and logged in, but still no success, it will not see the game systems. (I did set the systems up in the game browser plugin) Now I am trying "Mame" but which version of Mame emulator do I need to install onto the NAS drive and how do I set it up on the Game browser plugin? Or am I completely missing the setup procedure and doing everything wrong?
hearingaid1970 0 Posted June 2, 2024 Author Posted June 2, 2024 exactly what do you mean by that? I created a library on the server and it see the files.
hearingaid1970 0 Posted June 2, 2024 Author Posted June 2, 2024 is the mame emulator supposed to be installed on the server? or are just the files needed to be present on the server? in emby theatre, when I setup the external players, I tried to get it to show any of the emulators, but nothing shows up. that option is left empty as there is no items to choose from the drop down menu.

hearingaid1970 0 Posted June 3, 2024 Author Posted June 3, 2024 which version of the emulator is needed? windows, apple, android?
Luke 42077 Posted June 3, 2024 Posted June 3, 2024 3 hours ago, hearingaid1970 said: which version of the emulator is needed? windows, apple, android? Hi, emulators are external applications. They can be anything you want. They are installed on the same machine as Emby Theater, and you configure them in the external player section of the app. I understand you want to know which emulator version, but that's a question of what's best for your environment, for your game files, etc.
hearingaid1970 0 Posted June 3, 2024 Author Posted June 3, 2024 I have my emby installed on a win 10 machine. does that mean I install the windows emulators on that machine? and then I link to that installation?

Hi, you install emulators on the machine that you want to play the games on, using Emby Theater. This may or may not be the same machine as your Emby Server machine, that's your choice. Please let us know if this helps. Thanks.
hearingaid1970 0 Posted June 4, 2024 Author Posted June 4, 2024 I thought the purpose of the game browser is to be able to play games on any computer anywhere without installing anything on the computer you are using at that moment. Having all games and emulators on a central server like Emby with access from any computer in the world was the goal. If I have to install emulators on every computer that I use, it makes the entire game browser on Emby of no real value as i could install and run from any computer anyways. or did I misunderstand?

Hi, it doesn't do that, no. For every device that you want to play on, that has to be figured out.
