GoPro 120mbps videos have thick bar during playback on Fire TV

Hello,

When viewing videos that I filmed on my GoPro at 120Mbps/4K I get a thick bar through the screen.

The original footage doesn't have this bar. It plays correctly in Windows both via the original file or via Emby in a browser window and also on my Android phone, it just appears to happen when watching via the Fire TV. I've also tried the Playback Correction and it doesn't make a difference.

Image attached.

Any idea how I can get then to play back correctly?

Many thanks.

Ben.

Hi.  Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares?

Thanks.

OK so a very very quick test and the bar is gone, but getting lots of dropped frames however I've readded the library so that could well be the issue. I'll try again later to confirm whether it plays back successfully.

I ran into something similar with high-bitrate files, and switching to a different encoding format helped a bit. Also, when I compared with clips shot on my Insta360, they didn’t show the same playback issue, even at similar bitrates.

You might want to test a clip from insta360.com to see if there's a difference and help isolate if it's a format or compression issue specific to your GoPro files.
