Album folders not sorted by year when in Album Artist view

Basically albums are either sorted by Title (A-Z) or by Year (descending, eg 2019, 2016, 2012) with no way to change this.

only way is to Goto the Folders tab, and then select artist, and then albums are displayed by file name (eg. “2000. the Better Life” or however you labeled the folder)

After, I guess indexing itself, it now just lists albums in descending order with no way to sort in ascending order.

i think the [album]artist page is an 'ography' page which has a good default sort order. (Date descending)

I like seeing most recent work first, and in release order when looking an artists discography or authors bibliography.

It is more obvious to appreciate the persons  body of work and i'm more likely to be interested in the more recent stuff.

wish it was the same for person (filmography)

I just hope they add the option of sorting so we can choose what sort order we like

I will assume this is a client specific issue.

As I do not see this issue in the web client as shown above.

Looks like the ATV app has been updated, but it now looks similar to the layout in Safari on the Mac. I don’t like how the Albums are all in one single row. I preferred it when there were several rows as this made it easier and quicker to navigate from last album to the first album. Also, still no option to sort albums by year. That way users can list albums from first year of release to last year of release (how I prefer to sort) or as it is currently - last year of release to first year of release (which some other users prefer to sort).

The layout is the same (mostly) between Mac OS and ATV, but in Apple TV you can’t click on the Albums text (just above the single row of albums and their art)  in the Album Artist (highlighted in the Mac screenshot below) which opens up to a new page and shows several rows of albums and their artwork, along with an option to change sort order (again not available on Apple TV).

Yes, this is a limitation in ATV in that we can’t make the section headers a clickable component to launch another view and don’t currently have a good work around.
