kurtgschumacher 36 Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 I just update Emby on my Synology server to 4.8.7.0. Everything looked fine until I went to Playlists and it's empty. Why would this happen, and is there any way to get them back?
kurtgschumacher 36 Posted May 29, 2024 Author Posted May 29, 2024 I don't remember exactly, it was a 4.7 release.
kurtgschumacher 36 Posted May 29, 2024 Author Posted May 29, 2024 I did the upgrade Monday night. I have Emby set to do a scheduled library scan every night at 2 AM. It's showing it last ran 7 hours ago, so it's still working.
Luke 42077 Posted May 29, 2024 Posted May 29, 2024 Does the playlists section show up and is empty, or is it not showing at all?
Solution kurtgschumacher 36 Posted May 31, 2024 Author Solution Posted May 31, 2024 Okay, I need to move on from this. Most of my playlists were music and I can recreate those easily. One of them was my movie watchlist, which had over 200 movies in it. I'll just have to start over on that one. 1
Luke 42077 Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Hi, thanks for the update. Apologies for the disruption.
kurtgschumacher 36 Posted June 2, 2024 Author Posted June 2, 2024 Disruption... heh. Updates deleting data is more than a "disruption".
dobby121289 0 Posted August 5, 2024 Posted August 5, 2024 I just updated and ran into this issue myself. After a little digging I found that the playlist folder has changed from 'playlist' to 'userplaylist'. The original playlists will be there if you want to recover them. Unfortunately you cannot just copy the playlist folders/files into the new folder as presumably the associated database? no longer has an entry for the playlists in the old folder structure. I just recreated the playlist with 1 random item and then overwrote the playlist.m3u file with the original, restoring my playlist.
kurtgschumacher 36 Posted August 5, 2024 Author Posted August 5, 2024 That's good information, thanks. I hope I never have to use it again, LOL! Part of the problem was my playlists were still in XML format, and the Emby update didn't convert them to M3U.
