TDriver 53 Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Many users have already received their Ugreen NAS. It would be very nice if there was a native APP here. I'm currently using Emby via Docker. Appropriate developer kits can be requested by email from Ugreen. It would be nice if there was a native server soon. 1
Luke 42077 Posted June 2, 2024 Posted June 2, 2024 Hi, yes they actually reached out to us, so hopefully we can have something in the near future. 1 1
Luke 42077 Posted June 7, 2024 Posted June 7, 2024 @TDriverwhile you wait, I do have a question. Can you try to install our existing Debian package? From some quick google searching it looks like Ugreen is based on Debian. It might already work as it is.
TDriver 53 Posted June 7, 2024 Author Posted June 7, 2024 (edited) Good morning, yes I can install Debian packages. At the moment I have Emby running in a Docker, it works great I will post a guide later. Edited June 7, 2024 by TDriver 1
TDriver 53 Posted June 7, 2024 Author Posted June 7, 2024 (edited) Yes, I can do that. I'll let you know as soon as I've tried it. Do you just need the information whether it works or also log files? Â Â Â Â Edited June 7, 2024 by TDriver
TDriver 53 Posted June 7, 2024 Author Posted June 7, 2024 (edited) The installation works without any problems.I have now carried out the installation on my test box a Ugreen DX4700. embyserver(3).txt hardware_detection-63853343573.txt Edited June 7, 2024 by TDriver 1
Svennie 4 Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 Docker is not a nice solution on UGreen 4800+ I can't scan the folders and no new medians are shown. 1
TDriver 53 Posted June 10, 2024 Author Posted June 10, 2024 (edited) I can't understand the problem, what do you have entered here? Docker --> Container --> Emby server --> Environment variable The user who has access to the media folder must be entered under UID / GID. The first user on the Ugreen NAS has the UID 999 and GID 10. If the first user also has access to this folder, you can use this UID and GID. This can also be found in the manual for the container, but unfortunately most people don't read the manuals https://hub.docker.com/r/emby/embyserver Which Docker image are you using? https://hub.docker.com/r/emby/embyserver @LukeI would like to make a guide for installing Emby in Docker on a UGreen NAS. Should I post this here in the general area or can you make another "Ugreen" category? Â Edited June 10, 2024 by TDriver
Luke 42077 Posted June 10, 2024 Posted June 10, 2024 For now general or Linux. We’ll see how ugreen adoption grows, if it does. Thanks! 1
byamaato 0 Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 Creating my media folders in Emby and I see the shared folders that I have my media in but for some reason, they are not selectable when I try and create a media folder in Emby.  Any ideas why the folders can't be selected? I'm at a loss... Â
TDriver 53 Posted June 11, 2024 Author Posted June 11, 2024 Same problem, same solution. See my previous post  Â

Create a User Group in UGOS (Control Panel —> User Management —> click on the User Groups tab on the top. I called mine "media." 2.) Via the command line, edit the /etc/group file (e.g., "sudo nano /etc/group"). 3.) Find the group you created in step one and add the "emby" user to the end of the list of users 4.) Now, go back into UGOS's File Manager, navigate to the folder in question, right-click on it and select Properties. 5.) Click on the "Permissions" and you should see the group you just created. You can now set its permissions in any folder for this group and Emby will have those permissions.
MONKK 0 Posted March 5, 2025 Posted March 5, 2025 Hello guys, well I do understand that this might be simple af for you guys. "Just follow the instructions" you say...but I don't have a clue about NAS`s, Router, DNS, sudo, nano, port mapping, UID, GID, Reverse Proxy...this is all jibberish for me. I get it, I am a total noob, which I have no problem with. But please, think of it as someone is talking to you about brain surgery or time/space travel, or whatever it is, you don't think u would get your head around. That`s what it is for me like when you guys talk about this stuff (and my english is waaaay too bad to understand everything you guys describe)  So here is where I'm coming from: I had a Synology DS418play for the last 6 years and was running my emby server on it. Which was no problem. Just downloaded the .spk, setup the server, selected the folders with my movies and series in the library and it was running like a charme. Couple of months ago I decided to switch from my Synology to an Aoostar (because as usual, everyone said it is so GODDAMN EASY to run TrueNas Scale on it, which is of course also SO EASY TO HANDLE...guess what, it is not...not for me). So it was a hassle to get my data from my Synology to my Aoostar using rsync etc. Bottomline, I almost lost all my data during this process. Decided to send the Aoostar back, lost money because of a handling fee, couldn't access my old data on my Synology via file station anymore (I/0 Error. Please try again later), the support was a joke, so I didn`t get any help. Long story short, I bought an UGREEN NAS and have my data back after a near stroke. What I unfortunately did not know was that there is no native emby app for it. Even a year after Ugreen released their product. Why is that? I thought I read something about they even got in contact with you guys for this purpose (could be wrong tho). I don`t know ANYTHING about docker and to be completely honest with you guys, I don't wanna run it (I like my NAS plain and simple). As if that's not enough, while I was searching the web for a step-by-step instructions for dummies, I've read or heard something about someone losing all his data because he was trying to delete a directory path but it was the actual folder he deleted. It may sound stupid but THAT COULD BE EASILY ME! I am terrified to almost lose all of my data again. (Yes I know, RAID is no Backup...I promise...as soon as I can afford three extra 20tb HDD`s, I'll buy them).  I did try Plex before, I didn`t like it. Reminded me of an iPhone. Looks good but feels like a golden cage. I took a look at Jelly but it is not as polished as emby is. I like the way emby looks, the customization, the forum and despite all of that, all my friends and family members got emby on their TV`s, phones, tablets, FireTV sticks etc because of me. I don't want to change that.  Now to my final question I guess. When will there be a native app for dummies, wich I can just download, install and run? Is there anything I can do to speed it up...for instance create 1000 mail accounts and spam Ugreen with this request?  ANYTHING, please help.  Btw...It`s my first time posting in this forum instead of just reading posts. So if I did something wrong, posted in the wrong thread or something, I apologize. That wasn't on purpose.Â

hdsuisse 14 Posted March 29, 2025 Posted March 29, 2025 (edited) Installed "emby-server-deb_4.9.0.42_amd64.deb" on my Ugreen DXP4800Plus with UgosPro1.2.0.2 and it works like charm only need to manually adjust the folder permissions for emby ! wasyl00 2 Posted March 31, 2025 Posted March 31, 2025 (edited) Another Synology > Ugreen convert here! My nas is on the way. I sense huge influx of new ugreen users here. Synology really dropped the ball with their upcoming consumer line for 2025. I think many like me were holding for the upgrade for a while and are very dissapointed. With their current discount ugreen was a no brainer for me! Would love official server release for Ugreen! Thanks Edited March 31, 2025 by wasyl00 1 1
hdsuisse 14 Posted April 1, 2025 Posted April 1, 2025 i udated Ugreen Software to 1.3.0.2321 today and then updated emby debian package to 4.9.0.43 and works perfect  1
