OFX 1 Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 I’ve been attempting to setup an offline Emby server for simple Media streaming from a Synology DS224+ to several iPads. The issue presenting itself is there is no playback on several of the iPads, while the iOS app works perfectly on 2 out of 10 iPads only. Libraries are populated as they should be, but when selecting a Movie and the “Play” button, simply nothing happens (no error messages). As mentioned on 2/10 iPads playback happens immediately with no problems. On the iPads that can’t playback through the App, playback is fine when connecting directly to the server via the browser. All apps and devices are fully up to date, I periodically connect them to the internet when I’m uploading new media. Fairly new to this so any assistance would be appreciated, cheers.
Luke 42077 Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Hi there, let's look at an example. Please attach the information requested in how to report a media playback issue. Thanks!
OFX 1 Posted May 28, 2024 Author Posted May 28, 2024 Thanks Luke, Will review this and post accordingly, might be a couple days due being physically away from the server for a short while, thanks! 1

Downloaded the Log after successfully playing on the 2 working devices, then a no playback on one of the not working devices. Let me know if you require any additional details, many thanks in advance. embyserver.txt
OFX 1 Posted June 4, 2024 Author Posted June 4, 2024 Hi Luke, In addition I’ve just been trying to reconnect on each iPad. While I have the server connected to the internet, all devices have worked perfectly. Once disconnecting from the internet it looks like each iPad is now unable to verify my Emby premier key and as such requests me to ‘restore purchase’ or ‘Play One Minute’ of the selected Media.
OFX 1 Posted June 5, 2024 Author Posted June 5, 2024 It did for initial verification of the premier key, after that all were disconnected from the internet. Connected to an offline LAN. while both the NAS and iPads were connected to the internet there were no issues.
Luke 42077 Posted June 8, 2024 Posted June 8, 2024 HI, please let us know if Emby for iOS 2.2.22 helps with your issue. Thanks !
OFX 1 Posted June 11, 2024 Author Posted June 11, 2024 Hi Luke, unfortunately it does not, the same issue is still ongoing. As a stopgap I have installed a dlna player on the iPads which connects to the Emby server, it is working well for now. i would prefer to use the emby app if possible though. Thanks for your help so far.
Luke 42077 Posted June 14, 2024 Posted June 14, 2024 So you can connect remotely but not inside the network? for most people who have connection problems it’s usually the other way around. i would check and make sure that the Emby iOS app is granted local network access on the device.
