Hispanico957 23 Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 I attach the photo of Emby on Android TV (Nvidia Shield Pro) to ask for a clear improvement in management on the home screen. First of all, the recommended films don't rotate, they've been like this for two months and I remember pointing it out some time ago but I was told that they were random... but in fact they don't undergo updates. So why not delete this list and replace it with recently added movies. Is it possible to add this option in Emby on Android TV? Thank Hispa
Luke 42077 Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Hi. Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks. 1

Hispanico957 23 Posted May 28, 2024 Author Posted May 28, 2024 (edited) I think that the developer needs to set up links with the Android TV interface to ensure that recent content from Emby or something else is highlighted, as NetFlix does very well ! Because as it stands today, Emby is not interactive with Android TV I hope it can be implemented Hispa Edited May 28, 2024 by Hispanico957
rbjtech 5284 Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 I believe only AndroidTV Apps can interface externally with Android/GoogleTV ...
rbjtech 5284 Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 (edited) For some reason, this has been marked off as complete in 'the list' - see the thread below - yours is item 33. I do feel some sort of review is needed on this long list, as a lot of items I see crossed off the list (by whom?) have not been fully implemented or not implemented at all in the Android replacement ... @MBSki https://emby.media/community/index.php?/topic/89802-et-for-android-and-et-for-windows-ui-match-android-tv-app/#comments 33. Add Google Home channels (Next Up, Suggested for, etc) Maybe @Lukeis not aware of the fact you can launch emby titles from the 'home screen' without the need to go into the emby AndroidTV app ... Uhmm ok... but at this point the developers need to make an upgrade in order to make it truly suitable for Android TV because as it is now it makes no sense Hispa

No one has fessed up, but I suspect @Lukeis crossing these off without consulting us. Luke, are you crossing these items off? If so, can you please consult with us first when a change is made in beta so we can confirm if it's done or not? Edited May 28, 2024 by MBSki 2

It is loaded with your unwatched movies sorted by date added (descending). As you add or watch items that list should change. However, many new versions of Google TV don't even have the ability to show those channels so they have not been getting tested a lot.

My Shield Pro continues to show recently added movies .. the changes are not immediate .. but they appear maybe a week or so later .. ?

Switching users should produce a new list and I'm wondering if maybe that is the only time you're seeing it change content. As I said, this feature hasn't undergone any testing in a while because it is only available on some older versions of Android TV and it is hidden so that most users never even know about it. 1

Thanks - I'll test it later today and report back. It's not an essential feature granted - but it does save a few seconds if you see something in that row that you want to play directly.
Hispanico957 23 Posted May 28, 2024 Author Posted May 28, 2024 I'm happy to be able to contribute to improving the interface and integration into Android TV. With various user tests (even changing) only live TV and suggested films appear in the choices (see screenshot) and never the "recently added" option which in my opinion would be the most convenient and useful solution for users on Androd TV, as NetFlix and Prime already do Thank Hispa 1

ebr 16169 Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 24 minutes ago, Luke said: The standard app has implemented this, Well, partially. It has implemented the "Play Next" channel content but not any of the custom channels. However, as I mentioned previously, Google is phasing these out (probably because pretty much no one was using them since they are so hidden) so I'm not sure it is worth us spending the effort on trying to implement them in the standard app. Even "Play Next" is starting to be somewhat hidden in newer versions of Google TV.

As others have said, I uninstalled the app and reinstalled it but no "recent" changes to the movie, as well as trying to exit and re-enter and lastly to change user and then return...but nothing solved it. The option to show recent movies on the NVidia Shield (Android TV) home screen does not work and needs to be fixed Hispa
