chrisrobbins1970 82 Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 I have a remote user who uses a 65' Hisense Roku TV and says that at RANDOM the video will freeze and the audio will still play. He does have the updated emby for roku. I don;t know if this is a ROKU TV issue or Roku in general. I do not have this issue at all on any of my rokus. I have uploaded the logs..he was watching ATLAS from 11:47am to 1:40pm and says it happened several times..I don;t know if the logs will show anything. embyserver.txt

speechles 2055 Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 It might be the way hardware transcoding is applied. >>>>>> Hardware Decoders for h264 [X] VAAPI GeminiLake UHD Graphics 600 - H.264 (AVC) [X] QuickSync GeminiLake UHD Graphics 600 - H.264 (AVC) >>>>>> Hardware Encoders for h264 [X] VAAPI GeminiLake UHD Graphics 600 - H.264 (AVC) [X] QuickSync GeminiLake UHD Graphics 600 - H.264 (AVC) If move up QuickSync above VAAPI does it still have an issue?
speechles 2055 Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 Just just left click and hold then drag one above the other. Or just uncheck one of them to try the other. Quicksync works best with me and the Roku.
chrisrobbins1970 82 Posted May 28, 2024 Author Posted May 28, 2024 ok i made the switch... I'm assuming I leave it on advanced, if I go back to YES then all switches back..
ebr 16169 Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Hi. How long do they wait with just the audio playing? I'm wondering if maybe the whole thing stops eventually and it is just that the audio is slower to freeze up...
chrisrobbins1970 82 Posted May 28, 2024 Author Posted May 28, 2024 he says the video freezes but the audio still plays..then when the video unfreezes, the audio will go back a few seconds to re-sync the video..then it plays..its random

Video is a lot larger than audio so sometimes the audio could continue while the video is hung up waiting.
chrisrobbins1970 82 Posted May 28, 2024 Author Posted May 28, 2024 i'd says yes, but ye says that the same video plays without freezing using plex... i asked dhim to watch a movie on the roku ultra to see if he gets the same results.
Luke 42077 Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Hi, we'll take a look at it. Thanks for reporting.
chrisrobbins1970 82 Posted May 29, 2024 Author Posted May 29, 2024 @speechlesI think you might have something there with the changing the decoders. So far no one has said anything to me...but i'll keep you posted. The one with the TV still has not informed me either yes /no if that is the solution..BUT..i have noticed my CPU usages has gone down 1 1
chrisrobbins1970 82 Posted May 31, 2024 Author Posted May 31, 2024 @speechlesGood News.. That seems to of been the trick. User has watched movies and tv shows with NO video freezing.... Thank you
ebr 16169 Posted May 31, 2024 Posted May 31, 2024 Glad it is working for you but it could simply be that they have had a stable internet connection since the problem occurred.
chrisrobbins1970 82 Posted May 31, 2024 Author Posted May 31, 2024 possible, but still taking it as a win... 1
