paddy75 16 Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 i added some movies and series together in a collection. after an update they are grouped like this: i don't want this kind of grouping here because i added for each series/movie a sorttitle to get them in the right order i want to have. how i can disable this kind of view??
jeepnheel 7 Posted May 27, 2024 Posted May 27, 2024 (edited) This is a major issue for me as well after the update, and so far I don't think a fix has been implemented. My primary use of Emby is to create lots of custom collections that group movies, shows, and episodes together by interest. Examples are holidays like Christmas or Halloween, Marvel franchise, etc. Often my collections will have hundreds of movies, shows, and episodes, and like you I want to see all of them together -- usually in chronological or alpha order. Additionally in my case, only displaying a handful of titles at a time and needing to constantly side-scroll-click is an absolute nightmare when there are 500+ items in that group. Most of the time, one movie or show is going to be a member of several different collections, so putting them in separate libraries is a no-go, and playlists/genres just don't have anywhere near the functionality or layout that collections do (did). @Luke Is there any new word on restoring the ability to show collections without grouping by type (and without side-scrolling)? It was perfect before the update, and an option to use the old/existing view would be very much appreciated. Edited May 27, 2024 by jeepnheel
Luke 42079 Posted May 28, 2024 Posted May 28, 2024 Hi, yes there will be a group by button in 4.8.8. Thanks. 1

paddy75 16 Posted May 31, 2024 Author Posted May 31, 2024 yes, this is working now in the webinterface. but what about on client side? have a google chromecast and roku, here i have to set it every time when i go inside a collection. it makes more sense, if i make a setting on the server, that all clients will get the same settings.

Hi, regarding Chromecast Hi. Can you try searching for our standard android app (Just "Emby" on Amazon and "Emby for Android on Google) on the same device's app store and see how that compares? Thanks.
paddy75 16 Posted June 1, 2024 Author Posted June 1, 2024 Hi, i forgot, the app is installed, not using a browser on this devices

paddy75 16 Posted June 2, 2024 Author Posted June 2, 2024 Hi, think i'm not really sure what you meant. I installed it from the playstore "Emby for Android" but still the same problem

paddy75 16 Posted June 2, 2024 Author Posted June 2, 2024 movies and series still displayed in groups, same as in the first picture i sent
paddy75 16 Posted June 3, 2024 Author Posted June 3, 2024 yes, on the webinterface its not a problem. on chrome cast i must click it every time in each collection and next time i have to do it again

paddy75 16 Posted June 4, 2024 Author Posted June 4, 2024 this is what i did. there are no other options to install it. searched for emby in playstore and got back only one result "Emby for Android TV". This is installed now
paddy75 16 Posted June 5, 2024 Author Posted June 5, 2024 oh gosh, now both are installed and tested it. On both it is not working. Emby for Android TV: option to switch between grouping and no grouping, but if you leave the collection and goes back inside, grouping is there again Emby for Android: no options to switch. as I said, best is to get the settings from the server directly instead to modify each collection individually.
Happy2Play 9780 Posted June 5, 2024 Posted June 5, 2024 I would assume app version number are needed.
paddy75 16 Posted June 6, 2024 Author Posted June 6, 2024 Emby for Android 3.3.95 Emby for Android TV 2.1.14g
Luke 42079 Posted June 11, 2024 Posted June 11, 2024 And in 3.3.95+ on the screen for an individual collection do you see the Group By button?

Luke 42079 Posted June 12, 2024 Posted June 12, 2024 OK it must not have made that version, sorry about that. It will be in the next app update.
paddy75 16 Posted June 13, 2024 Author Posted June 13, 2024 also makes sense to geht the settings from the server, instead to set in on each collection on each client

As it often happens, there's no one-size-fits-all solution.
