HA not working under docker Failed to initialize VA /dev/dri/renderD12

I am using the linuxserver docker container under Unraid 6.12.10 using an AMD radeon RX6600 GPU.

I have tried with the official Emby Server container and got the same result.

I'm not able to use hardware acceleration anymore .. I'm certain that it was working couple of weeks ago.

I'm now getting an error message under the hardware detection log with the following Message": "Failed to initialize VA /dev/dri/renderD128. Error -1"

As you can see, my GPU does not show under the Transcoding section.

Please see attached screenshot of my unraid docker config and the emby server log and hardware detection log.

I can config, that the same GPU is being used by jellyfin and plex docker container on the same host without issues.

Have you got the Nvidia-Container-Toolkit installed and enabled?

The command: "docker info | grep -i runtime"

Should return something like:

"Runtimes: nvidia runc

Default Runtime: runc"

Edit: missed the AMD gpu. Nvidias drivers won't help...

I had this same problem on 4.8.7.0 with the official embyserver container, and was fixed by rolling back to 4.8.6.0 on an AMD Ryzen 7950.

Yep you got it ! Downgrading emby to 4.8.6.0 made my Ha work again ...

@LukeIs there a know issue about this ?

We did update the mesa driver. I wonder if that could be causing an issue for some.

Same for me using lxc, with version 4.8.6.0 works as expected. I try the beta version and with the beta is working too

I’ll try the beta and report back.

I confirm, moving to the beta version resolve this issue. So I assume that whatever fix is in place in the beta version fill end up in the next stable release. I'll mark this post as resolved.

Thank you

Same issue with beta 22. Rolling back to 21 works fine. Running the docker version on unraid.

Thank you for this post...

I was testing arround with my proxmox server and suddenly HA doesn't work anymore... I searched hours, because I think I messed something up... After rollback to 21 HA it's working again...

Hi, it’s resolved in the latest beta. Thanks.

Has everyone reinstalled current release is it was republished?  But appears to be mixing of stable and beta issue here.

@LukeI redownload 22 and update again but the error Failed to initialize VA /dev/dri/renderD128 stays... I'm not on docker I have a proxmox lxc container... Back to 21 and HA works again...

Can confirm the 'new' 4.9.0.22 has fixed the issue for me using emby/embyserver:beta from Docker Hub thanks!

I think that version is only available via Docker Hub because I don't see it on the Github page.

@Lessaj Ah ok, that's the reason... I will wait for beta 23...

It still exists on version 22. When is 23 coming out?

I guess your only option right now if the republished .22 does not resolve the issue as mentioned above is to downgrade to .21.
