@CBersthats odd.

I think my plugins are almost standard, but with none I would suspect to add people to search.image.thumb.png.bb75a7460018507e64bf4efc7f7dc29e.png

Running Server V.4.8.7.0 searching via WebUI.

Looks like you have extra plugins, that might take up space.

Can you try zooming out.

Browser cache ?

Tried Incognito window and on a PC that hasn't ever seen Emby and still no PEOPLE.

No worries, not a biggie, just a peculiarity.

Something will click one day.

Are you running Beta or Stable server?

Thanks.

How are you getting the PEOPLE option in your search results, as I am not seeing it?

Do you have an extra plugin installed?

What am I missing 🤔

I think what might be happening is that your "People" tab is simply falling off the screen as your slider is already filled with other categories and People being last one there's no more horizontal space.

Have you tried:

as it appears that slider will keep width upon zoom, maybe People tab will show?

100%

67%

Or is there a hardcoded limit on number of categories/tab shown (15, per CBers' case), @Luke?

@GrimReaper hmm don't think there is a limit.

I'm counting 17 in this case. Zoom in Edge 90%

Zooming to 150% before anything disperse.

You do not need to add those asterisks, just use the single letter, hit enter. People is missing.

Well, that was just an idea, seeing 15 tabs in both yours and his screenshots - meaning there's some other underlying issue.

it ain't missing here, I'm seeing same as @jaycedk:

1) Single letter search (A) returns 50 people hits

Definitely a search bug or limitation.

2) Search wit asterisks (A***) returns 20,000+ people hits (Multi-selecting that took a lot of scrolling 🙄 )

Example "A***" will search for all people with A in first name or surname.

Not sure why would beta issues be discussed here? @jaycedkwas clear which server version he's running and all assumptions were based on that.

I think in addition to checking for empty overview, we can also check if the person hasn't had their metadata refreshed within x number of months.

Adding this on the beta server channel.

I built a new media server and used the backup/restore method for my Emby server.  But a lot of the images for people were missing from the browser even though if you clicked on the blank image it took you to their profile page where their image was there.  Refreshing the Metadata did nothing to change that.  Browing directly to the metadata folder in question I could see the image there as well.

Now, if I edited the identity or changed the image and then did a refresh - it showed up.  So somehow it just was not being triggered with a refresh to think anything had changed.  I'm only guessing, but it is as if the Emby database thinks that nothing changed so it leaves it as is.

So - being an IT person and an engineer but I approached it differently and it worked great and fixed the issue for everything I was experiencing.

Step one - go to your metadata folder (default is %appdata%\Roaming\Emby-Server\programdata\metadata) and move all the sub folders to another location on your drive (I just made a new folder on my desktop for this) then I ran the schedule task on Emby to Scan the Metadata which broke ALL the images of course.  :)

Step two - copy all the metadata subfolders back into the metadata directory and then run the Scan Metadata scheduled task again.  (I didn't try moving but thought maybe file creation dates could come into play)

Step three - enjoy having all your images display like they should.

Understand this is simply SCANNING the metadata and not REFRESHING it so this is instant for any metadata that is actually already on your server.

Anyway - worked for me.
